• It is with a heavy heart that I learned of John's passing today. John and I were kindred spirits. I first met John in 1969 when I moved to Winnipeg, he, just a few years younger than me. We were two book guys working in a bookshop. John was there with me at the hospital when my first child was born and I with him when his first child was born. We were two budding guitar players and hungry to learn every song and note we listened to. John was my mentor in music. He knew everything there was to know about all the great music and players and taught me how to appreciate and recognize great music and great song writers. We became inseparable for a long while making music and discovering life. And as life goes, family grows, business responsibilities and all the stuff in between we lost connection somewhere in the dark. I moved east then to another country. We stayed in touch for awhile...you know how the story goes...John, I will miss you forever. Words can never tell how much you gave me. A very, very big part of what I am today I owe to you. • Knew John for 50 years thru our travels and life...always reconnected. Many, many happy memories. We always picked up as if we saw each other every day. A really fine person!!!
