EUGENE GORDON STARCHUK
July 23, 1939 - May 2, 2022

It is with sadness that we announce the loss of a true gentleman. Geno was born and raised on the family farm in L.G.D. of Park, MB where he learned the value of hard work and resourcefulness. He was predeceased by his father George; mother Mary (Darry); brother Victor and two infant siblings, Ted and Sylvia.
Curious by nature, Geno was always thinking about how to improve and create new ways of doing things. These traits led him to varied careers, including Power Engineering. He married his soulmate Phyllis and returned to Roblin to farm, where they built their home and spent many happy years together and celebrating special occasions. He was a councillor for Ward 2 - L.G.D. of Park and participated in many committees. After moving to Winnipeg, Geno was employed as a maintenance site manager for senior complexes and a condo.
Phyllis and Geno retired in Gimli, where he was a longtime member of New Horizons and an active volunteer in the community. He was a jack of all trades and skillfully crafted many cherished gifts for others.
Many were drawn to him by his warm heart, infectious laugh, sense of humour and patience. Geno accepted all without judgement. He was always up for a good story, sharing a joke and a rye. Family was extremely important to Geno, he was always there to lend a hand and entertain his grandchildren with a snuggle and a joke.
Geno will be fondly remembered by his wife Phyllis; children, Cindy, Conrad (Teena), Gail-Ann (Curtis), Gordon (Donna) and Susan (Chris); his grandchildren, Brock, Mackenzie, Megan, Kelsey (Mike), Trygve, Anya, Alexander, Hannah, Laura and Zoey; great-grandchildren, Bronwyn and Theo; sister Pat; nephews, Greg and Trent; aunts, Rose and Nellie; sisters-in-law, Elsa and Willa (Jens); brothers-in-law, Chas (Sharon) and Danny; as well as many family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the healthcare teams at Selkirk and Gimli Hospitals and Gimli CancerCare. A special thank you to nurse Donna and Dr. J. Fulmore.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Aspen Park Recreation Centre, Gimli, MB at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare or a charity of your choice.
