DORIS KRAELING
(nee JONES)
July 28, 1922 - May 5, 2022
Suddenly after a brief illness, Doris passed away leaving her loving family to grieve deeply. Doris, even at 99 years of age, was a force to be reckoned with.
Doris is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Alan); grandchildren, Lauren (Chris) and Alex (Jannah) and great-grandchildren, Avery, Nicholas, Elle and Lillian and Grant. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was born and lived in Winnipeg her whole life. She was predeceased by her parents, Ethel and Willard and sisters, Phyllis and Margaret. After a loving marriage of 71 years, she was predeceased by her devoted husband Bruce.
Doris worked briefly as a stenographer at Eaton's before marrying Bruce and becoming a homemaker. She assisted Bruce when they ran their own business after his retirement. Doris enjoyed volunteering at their church and was a loyal supporter of many charities, her favourite which was the Siloam Mission. Doris particularly enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was famous for their New Year's Eve party. Doris and Bruce enjoyed travelling to visit family in New Zealand and Australia. Many winters of their retirement were spent in Victoria, BC.
The family would like to thank Karen and staff at The Boulton and also the home care workers, Fireweini and Diana (deceased) and nephew Les Despins, wife Donna and niece Roberta Harris for all their support over many years.
A graveside Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the charity of your choice, or to Siloam Mission Mum's favourite.
Mum did not dwell on what could have been, she was too busy doing. She has left us all with a legacy of love, steadfastness and celebration.
