MARGARET ROSE FRECHETTE
(nee SMITH)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother on May 14, 2022.
Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband Alcide (Sid) in 1996. She leaves behind her children, Michel (Katherine) Frechette, Jeannette Brigit, Annette Frechette, Andre Frechette, and Suzanne (Gary) McElheron. Grandchildren, Daniel and Chantal, Simon (Dusty), Meaghan (Adrian), and Chloe, Justin, Allen (Lia) and great-granddaughter Isla.
Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1934. In 1953, while serving in the Women's Royal Army Corps in Nottinghamshire, England, she fell in love with a young Canadian serviceman based in England. They spent their Saturday evenings dancing the night away at The Pallais de Danse in Nottingham. Later they were married and raised a family. They lived in England, Belgium, Québec, and finally settled in Manitoba.
In 1979 Margaret fulfilled a lifelong dream and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She loved nursing and especially enjoyed her colleagues at Seven Oaks Hospital for whom she had much admiration and respect and with whom she shared lots of laughs!
Mom loved to travel, she loved the sun, and with Dad she enjoyed entertaining, playing darts, and sharing good times with friends and family in their home. We will always fondly remember our family Sunday dinners.
Mom also loved her cats, who were her constant companions. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local cat rescue.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, doctors, and caregivers on Medicine 2 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre for their compassionate care of Margaret. We would also like to thank the staff at the Interlake-Eastern Home Care team for their dedication and kindness.
The family will be holding a private gathering.

My deepest condolences to all of Marg’s loved ones. My heart is broken. We lost touch over the years but I never stopped thinking of her. Marg made going to work fun. We laughed so much and the compassion she showed her patients was unsurpassed. She was a very special woman.
