TIMMER, Hendrik (Henry) passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the age of 90 years. Henry was born in Koekange, Netherlands on June 10, 1931. He immigrated to Canada in May of 1950, and found work in Winnipeg on a hog farm where he worked hard but found himself owing the farmer more money than he got paid. He met the love of his life, H ennie, on May 28, 1950. They married on July 23, 1955. Henry started working for Silverwood Dairies in Winnipeg in 1962. He was transferred to Brandon in 1966 where he continued to be the milkman for 27 years. He retired but soon found himself returning to the workforce, working for the Brandon Today and then the Brandon Sun after that. In 1994 Henry and Hennie moved to Boissevain where Henry took a job driving school bus, one that he was proud of and enjoyed very much. He talked about his school bus kids for many years after retiring. Throughout the years he was an avid bowler, becoming an Honorary Life Member of the Brandon Five Pin Bowlers Association and the Manitoba Five Pin Bowlers Association. He bowled right up to the age of 89. Henry and Hennic were well known for rabbit breeding. They raised up to 45 different breeds for show. Henry also became a well-known rabbit judge. They travelled to many different fairs and shows throughout the years, claiming many prizes for their animals. He enjoyed coaching his girl's softball teams. He was well loved and respected as a coach. Henry was an avid Blue Bomber fan and was hard pressed to miss any CFL game. When we were kids, he could be found in his chair, watching one game on the TV with the sound off while listening to another game on the radio by his side. He also enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and curling. Henry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Hennie, and his children, Henry (Brenda), Jim (Lori), Marshall (Tracy), Rhanda (Dean) and Gina (Desmond), and their families, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Henry has requested a private family service.
