ROLAND (ROLLIE) DION
Roland passed away at St. Boniface on June 8, 2022, at the age of 93. His wife of 57 years Beatrice (Catellier) sadly passed on May 15, 2012.
Born in St. Leon on January 1, 1929 to Marie (Rondeau) and Maurice Dion, he is survived by his sister Gisele (Sparling) and predeceased by his brothers, Marcel and Gerald; and sister Yvette (Rondeau).
His love of everything mechanical led him to a long career working as a millwright in the community, BC and Ontario. He was a proud long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, and served for decades on the Board of Directors for Place Demeurons.
Roland leaves to cherish his memory his son Robert; daughters, Pauline and Nicole (Michael); and son Denis (Valerie); his eight grandchildren, Clint (Dana), Tara, Daina (Austin), Steven (Kim), Erik, Michaelis (Ken), Madison (Taylor) and Denzeree (James); along with four great-grandchildren.
A memorial reception will take place on Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m., at Desjardin Funeral Chapel, 357 Desmeuron Street, in St. Boniface. His ashes will be interred alongside his wife's in St. Malo at a later date.

To Robert, Denis, Pauline & Nicole - Our deepest condolences on the passing of your father. Rollie was a big part of our lives over the last several years and we cared for him deeply. It was only of recent that Josie would not allow us to visit Rollie which hurt us tremendously. Some of his best traits were he always had a smile, a kind heart and really loved and cared about his family. As each day passes we hope your heavy hearts are replaced with wonderful memories of your dad who was one of the best men out there. With deep respect Donna-Lynn G and John J - Posted by: Donna-Lynn & John (Friends) on: Jun 16, 2022

To Josie and the entire DION family. Bunsee and I wish to express Our most heartfelt and deepest condolences to you all.. Rollie and Beatrice spent a lot of mornings having breakfast together, talking a lot about everything mechanical. Same when you introduce us to Josie. You were always ready to help others when they need their furnace or other appliances especially the air conditioner fixed. You are always ready to help. Thank you so much for sharing all your wisdom and expertise with Bunsee. Thank you so much for being our friend. You will be sadly missed dear friend. May your soul Rest In Peace . - Posted by: Bunsee and Indra Balkissoon (Friends) on: Jun 14, 2022

Our deepest condolences to the Dion family on the loss of their father. Those thoughts and regrets are also extended to other family members and loved ones. My father and Roland shared a tiny apartment as young bachelors and remained lifelong friends. Roland had sound ethics in both his work and relationships. He maintained a sharp intellect and took interest in understanding. I am fortunate to have known him and find solace in the fact that we never truly die as we live on in the hearts of our loved ones, - Posted by: Francois Conan (Friend) on: Jun 14, 2022
