JOHN FREDERICK CURWAIN

With great sadness, our family announces the sudden passing of John Curwain, on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Grace Hospital, beloved husband of Catharine for almost 49 years.
Remaining to forever cherish John's memory is his wife; his children, Cheryl Schellenberg (Paul, granddaughter Sabrina) of Winkler, Andrew (Kristen, grandchildren, Aria, Cohen, Elle) of Winnipeg, and Sean (Allesheu, granddaughter Winter) of Calgary; his brother Harold (Paula) of Plainfield, Ontario; and extended family members.
John was born June 25, 1951, in Belleville Ontario to parents, Harold and Helen Curwain. John attended Queen's University where he met his wife, Catharine. John worked for Canada Post for over 34 years, starting in university, working in various towns across Ontario and Manitoba before settling in Winnipeg in 1989. Once retired, John and Catharine enjoyed travelling to many different provinces with their travel trailer, including going to Newfoundland and the Rocky Mountains. They also went on many winter vacations to Caribbean destinations, and cruises to Alaska and the Mediterranean. John's pride and joy in retirement was enjoying his grandchildren, with visits to the Zoo, watching their sports, and babysitting.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in John's memory to Diabetes Canada or the Grace Hospital Foundation.
A private family funeral service will be held at Wojcik's Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Dear Andrew - Sorry for your loss of your father. I would like to send my condolences to you and your family. I share in your loss since my father also passed on last year Sept 2021 and similarly lost my younger sister also last year June 2021. It's tough but I find that sharing in the happy memories and moments of your father and yourself is the best way to remember him and to cherish them. Take care and God bless. Thinking of you and your family Your truly, Kevin Seow - Posted by: Kevin Seow (Colleague) on: Jun 20, 2022
