KATHARINA KELM
(nee HABERERN)

September 24, 1928 – June 20, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear matriarch, Katharina Kelm on Monday, June 20, 2022 at age 93.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, siblings, and son-in-law. She is survived by her son Arnold (Kathleen), daughter Karen, and grandchildren, Darryl, Anita, Katrina, Eric, and Kevin.
Born on September 24, 1928 in Malthern, Czechoslovakia, Katharina immigrated to Canada in 1956. She was a hard worker and always willing to lend a hand. She loved her grandchildren, cooking and baking, and took special pride in her garden, and the dogs Layla and Buzz.
An interment and brief service will be held privately for the family as was Katharina's wish.
Special thanks to Dr. K Ross and the doctors and nurses of Health Sciences Centre for their dedication.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Palliative Care.
Katharina, loving mother and Oma, leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and triumph. She will be missed immensely.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Mom and I, (Pearl and Peter Davis) offer our sincere condolences at the sad loss of Kathy. Kathy was a wonderful neighbor and friend to us for at least 38 years. It is heartwarming to remember all the wonderful conversations we had all the great memories. Like the time Kathy and I walked together to get our H1N1 vaccinations as well as our pneumonia shots. On the way there I, a much younger man had to ask 80 year old Kathy to slow down some as I could not keep up with her. Kathy had a good laugh at that one. Kathy would always share the fruit of her garden with us and they were not only delicious, they were greatly appreciated. Kathy was the most knowledgeable gardener I ever met and her numerous awards attest to that, her beautiful gardens always showed that. It is so sad now to look out my kitchen window and not see her busy with her gardening or tending her roses. Kathy will always be remembered well, always missed. God Bless you Kathy and may you be tending the heavenly gardens now. Pearl and Peter Davis. - Posted by: Peter Davis (Neighbor) on: Jun 25, 2022

  • Mrs Kelm was our next door neighbour for the first ten years of my life - her son Arnold was my first friend - I remember the Kelms being great neighbours and I am very saddened to hear of her passing but glad that she had a nice long life. Condolences to Arnold and Karen and I hope you are all doing well. Jim - Posted by: Jimmy Malloy (neighbour back in the 60’s) on: Jun 25, 2022
