ANNE STASKA
(nee HAPPYCHUK)

On Monday, July 4, 2022, Anne passed peacefully with family by her side at St. Boniface Hospital.
She will be missed by her son Brian, daughter Colleen, daughter Karen (Ron); grandsons, Brenden and Hayden; as well as brother Bob (Sherry); sisters, Jean and Elizabeth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2005, mother Klema, father John; sisters, Olga, Nellie and Mary; brothers-in-law, George, Victor, Peter and Bill; sister-in-law Marge and her husband Paul; mother-in-law Minnie and father-in-law John.
Anne was born May 31, 1935, in Sandilands, Manitoba. Growing up, she lived in both Ontario and Manitoba, with most of her life spent in Manitoba. As a young woman, she enjoyed working a summer job at Separation Lake Lodge in Ontario and loved to share memories of her time there. She also worked at Misericordia Hospital and Eaton's mail order in Winnipeg. She married Richard in 1958, lived in Flin Flon for a short time, and then they farmed in Thalberg and Vassar. After moving back to Winnipeg in the early 1970s, she worked for the St. James Library. Mom and Dad spent many years enjoying their summers at the Staska family farm in the Brokenhead area, where they would visit with friends and family and were often accompanied by their children to help with the gardens and the yardwork.
Mom was a kind and gentle person who loved nature and animals. She always put the needs of her children before her own and took care of us and checked in on us. In the same caring way, she cherished her grandsons and was always excited to see them and hear the stories of what was going on in their lives.
A heartfelt thank you to Health Sciences Centre Emergency department, Seven Oaks General Hospital and particularly the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate, loving care of Mom in her final days.
Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Avenue. Masks are encouraged and appreciated. A casual come-and-go luncheon will follow.
