• I did her hair about 20 years we talked about family hers and mine and some many other things. I will miss her so much she was much. • Irene was a lady who made you feel like a friend after just meeting her. She was one of the sweetest people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and I always looked forward to seeing her. • Since Irene had no children of her own, she became an extra special aunt, who treated all of her nieces and nephews with great love and affection. Even though I lived far away from her for most of my life, I always felt loved by her. And I loved her back. Irene loved to laugh, and never was this more evident than during a visit to our family by her, Grandma Louise, and my mom, her sister, Helen in Delaware. My husband and kids put on a "Squidget the Midget" show in the dining room. I thought Irene was going to pass out, she laughed so hard! Irene was always very interested in the goings-on of my life and my children's lives, and when she was favorably impressed, she would always utter (in Canadian), "Ever nice, eh?" It became a clear identifier for Irene amongst me and my kids. She always sent birthday and Christmas cards and would visit when she could. She was a faithful aunt. I admired her for her commitment to fitness, preferring to walk, rather than drive, most everywhere. She also swam on many a Sunday for years. And when her right hand was crippled by arthritis, she never complained (to me at least), but simply trained her left hand to take over with writing and doing other tasks. She was a trooper. The type of love that Irene showered on her extended family is rare. How extremely lucky were I and my family to have been in Irene's orbit of relatives.
