Mama was born during World War 2 on December 23rd, 1942 to Heinrich and Gertrud Tolle in a small town Schlarpe, Germany. Opa Heini moved the family to Hardegsen, where Mama and her brother Henfried were raised. In 1963 Mama fell in love with Dietmar and together they had four children: Jens, Andrea, Matthias, and Christina. 1969 Mama and Papa hotel business adventure began, Papa took over from his father the Hotel Drei Kronen. Mama’s cooking became famous, they hosted many weddings, special event parties, served homemade sausages and were locally known ‘As the Place to Be’ in hometown Hardegsen. In the early 1990 Andrea and Matthias had come to Wawanesa, Manitoba, Christina, Mama and Papa decided to follow and to dedicate their lives to the grandchildren and children. Mama helped raising the grandchildren, Mike, Steffen, Nicholas, David, Jacob and Georgina. She was like a mother to all of them, her greatest joy was the grandchildren. Mama was so proud to become a great grandmother to Trinidy, Brooke, Oliver and Evora. Memories we all cherish in our hearts forever to each and everyone of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In 1996 they came to Rivers, MB where they purchased with Christina the Rivers Inn Hotel. Mama’s cooking became one more time famous, the Hansel and Gretel Restaurant name was founded. Mama’s passion was cooking, and she loved working even after her retirement she could not sit still she had to go and help at the restaurant. By so many Mama was loved for her kindnesses, warmth of welcome, her smile and laugh. Everyone in the communities of Brandon and Rivers called by the name ‘MAMA.’ Mama missed her HEIMAT Germany very much, during the years she traveled forth and back and stayed in contact with family and many friends via Facebook. Mama and Papa traveled many times to Cabo San Lucas Mexico, where Mama made so many friends at the Roadhouse, she would dance, sing, and laugh the family would all gather there and made every vacation a special event filled with joy and cherished memories. Mama loved life and laughing. She was such a positive person and could find the best in the worst situation. She was a communicator, loved to socialize and celebrate life - every day anew. And she gave so much, in particular of herself to family and friends. Mama is survived by Dietmar who she was happily married to and shared her life with for 57 years. “Was die Mutter aus Liebe uns gegeben, dafür ist jeder Dank zu klein. Was wir an ihr verloren haben, das wissen wir nur ganz allein.” - Posted by: Andrea Boening - Spiess (Daughter) on: Aug 20, 2022
