FRANCES DUDECK

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, babcia and great-babcia. Frances (Kusmider) Dudeck passed away on August 13, 2022 at Middlechurch Home with her children by her side.
She is predeceased by her husband Stanley; her son Ken; parents, Andrew and Stefania and her brothers, John and Joseph.
Fran was born on February 14, 1927 in St. Boniface. She was raised in a Polish Catholic home and embraced these practices and traditions throughout her life. Frances met her husband Stan Dudeck at a St. John Cantius Society oplatek dinner in January 1951 and they were married on October 13, 1951. Frances was the epitome of "the woman behind the successful man" as she supported Stan as he pursued his entrepreneurial dreams of starting his own business – Paramount Windows.
Stan and Fran began their family on Matheson Avenue in West Kildonan, where they welcomed home their first daughter Susan, soon after joined by Ken, Tim, and Adele. Life on Matheson was busy as they raised their four kids and surrounded themselves with their own community of family and friends. It didn't take long for them to realize their home on Matheson was too small. In August 1967, the Dudeck family moved to their forever home of 50 years on Foxgrove Avenue. This home became a gathering place for their growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was where they hosted many celebrations, suppers, discussions and events. They joined the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish where they were members for 50 years.
While Frances supported her family, she was known for being a no-nonsense woman. She accepted what life handed her with stoicism and gratitude. Fran will be remembered for making the best borscht, perogies and cabbage rolls (golabki).
Fran leaves behind a large family, her daughter Susan (Gord), son Tim (Lori), daughter Adele and daughter-in-law Hedy. Left to mourn are her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chris (Carly), Kati (Grant), Jason (Nicole), Jessica (Kyle), Matthew (Theresa), Michelle, Megan (Terry), Nykola, Scott, Laine, Ben, Sophie, Bodhi, Cassie, Colin, and Robbie.
Our appreciation and gratitude are extended to the staff of D2 at The Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg where Frances has been a resident since 2016. Their care, compassion and communication were sincere and heartfelt.
The funeral liturgy will be held Tuesday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Parish on 264 Donwood Drive. Prayers and viewing begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by the burial at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
Donations can be made in Fran's memory to Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg.
