DENNIS SCHWARTZ
1952 - 2022
It is with profound sorrow and broken hearts we announce the passing of Dennis Schwartz on Friday, August 19, 2022, at the age of 70 at the St. Boniface Hospital, with his family by his side.
Dennis was born at the St. Boniface Hospital to Reihold and Trudy Schwartz. As the youngest of two boys, Dennis was always on the go and full of life. Even from an early age he always seemed to know what he wanted and liked to surround himself with family and friends. In 1969 he began dating what would be the love of his life Irene. They were married in October 1976. During their years together, they had two sons who he loved with all his heart. Dennis' grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he fully enjoyed spending time with them at every given opportunity. He will live on forever in their hearts and they will be his legacy.
Dennis had an entrepreneurial spirit that was learned from his father. His first business was in jukeboxes, pool tables, and shuffleboards that, along with his friend Alex, they installed in many hotels. He also had his children's rides that he installed in shopping malls that still exist in malls to this day. Other businesses he was involved in were MatMaster's, Scoops on Main/ Burger Bar/ Bend. Throughout the years he was loved and respected by those who knew him as a good and fair man who would help people to achieve their potential wherever he could.
Dennis always remained close to old friendships throughout the years, from those he met and played with when he lived on Slater Avenue to those he met on every other street he lived on. He enjoyed nothing more than to be open to many, whether it was to go for coffee, lunch or dinner, tell a story or a joke and even talk politics. He will be greatly missed.
Dennis will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Irene; his sons, Timothy (Jen) and Matthew; grandchildren, Theo and Lily; brother Rory (Mary) and family and all his extended family members.
Funeral service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home on Friday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Tyson Schwartz, Clyde Huff, Ken Turchen, Darryl Landygo, Kyle Landygo, and Jon Gyselinck.
Our appreciation and gratitude are extended to the doctors, nurses, and support staff on 4E at St. Boniface Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Never Alone Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 51064 RP0 Tyndall, Winnipeg, MB R2X 3C6, 204-779-2441.

I have known Dennis for a short 10 years. Right from the beginning I knew he was a genuine person and we could talk about anything. I loved his pleasant demeanor, his humor and being a honest person. I would see him regularly at Angelos Chip Shop and stay longer all because of him. It is not easy to come across friends like that . Dennis was a good man and even thou our time together was short, I will dearly miss him. My sympathy goes out to the family. - Posted by: Jim Danylishin (friend) on: Sep 03, 2022

Our deep condolences to Irene, Tim and Matt. We are so sad to hear that Dennis is gone. He was a 'one of a kind' neighbour and friend who we truly enjoyed having next door. Dennis was always there with a twinkle in his eye, a cigarette in hand and a listening ear for whatever concern you might have. Whether it was taking the neighbourhood kids for a slurpee or blowing out your driveway after a nasty storm Dennis was there. He was a true Winnipegger - always in the know and always on the go. Want to know about something - Dennis had the answers. We so appreciated having him next door on Delbrook and he will always be part of our memories. Good bye dear friend - God Bless. - Posted by: Sylvia and Bruce Jensen (Neighbour on Delbrook Cres ) on: Aug 26, 2022

I am saddened to hear of the passing of my friend. I may not of known him as long as his other acquaintances but he left a lasting impression with me. I had the opportunity to work for him and to say that he was a fair and understanding individual would be an understatement. I truly enjoyed working for him. Above all, he was FUNNY. He always had a joke on his mind. He knew how to treat people and I'm sure it reflected on all his achievements. I consider myself very lucky to have bumped into him out of the blue (20 yrs.) and he still remembered the good times. I wished I could have spent more time "shootin' the baloney" with Dennis but rest assured I will always remember him. My heartfelt condolences to the family. - Posted by: Marc Pilloud AKA Doc (Former Driver/employee for Mat Master) on: Aug 25, 2022

We wanted to say how sorry we are for the loss of Dennis, your husband & Dad! We remember our boys hanging out together on the street just chatting as neighbors.
