HELEN KELBERT

Helen Kelbert (nee Gerbrandt) of Winnipeg passed away September 11, 2022, at the age of 90.
She is survived by her son Bruce (Colleen), daughter Gwendolyn (Darrell), her grandchildren, Braxton, Brody, Julia, Kelsey, and Michael, her sister Justina, and her brother Diedrich (Ida). She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Victor Charles.
Helen worked unto her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through her industry at home and the many ministries she served. With her circle of friends, she prayed for the spiritual wellbeing of friends and family and took every opportunity to be a part of their lives. She regularly encouraged each of them with cards and notes, expressing her love and thankfulness, and always sharing a Bible verse. She now knows what her faith had hoped.
The funeral will be held Monday, September 19, 11:00 a.m. at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Dr. in Winnipeg, Pastor Greg Wiens officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to service, with a reception immediately following the service. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens following the reception.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Our sincere condolences to Gwen and Bruce and their families. Helen was always willing to help out in many areas of service. She and Victor started many programs to benefit the youth. One was in the Gilbert Park community where we were privileged to help. She was a mentor to us, and we were blessed by many Bible studies she headed up. She was also very frugal and could always find a bargain. - Posted by: Gerald and Bev Laggo (Friend) on: Sep 25, 2022

  • Helen was a very industrious homemaker. She was very kind and generous to all as it mattered not your walk in life to her. One person was as valuable as another. She cooked, baked, canned, was a gardener, sewed, crocheted, painted, quilted and taught children and adults and seniors alike at home, church, community centers and senior homes right up into her 70's and 80's, and if she could she would help anyone. She genuinely and fully served her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She was a good friend to me too. I loved her dearly. I look forward to spending eternity with her where space, poor health and time will no longer interfere with fellowship. - Posted by: Gladys E Smith (Friend) on: Sep 18, 2022

  • I have fond memories of your dear Mom, when we lived in Winnipeg. We shared a common faith and commitment to the service of the Lord, and many happy times. She will always be remembered as a dear friend. Our service in varied places brought about loss of contact, but we share a blessed hope of a brighter future! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. • My condolences to your families on the passing of you mother, grandmother sister & auntie. Helen has been my friend for over 37 years when we met at a TFC meeting. We also attended IPC for a number of years; got together for bus trips to Circle Square Ranch & a day trip to one of the colonies. In fact after she & Victor sold their home & moved to the apt. She gave up going to the colony for eggs & I took this over from her & I'm still doing this once a month. We would talk on the phone a couple of times a month to keep up on what each one of us had been up to. I will always remember the times we had together. May she rest in peace with her Savior. God Bless you all. - Posted by: Margaret Martin (friend) on: Sep 18, 2022
