Gary was a very kind man. Every time I saw him he had a smile of his face. I will miss our chats, phone calls and of course the few texts we shared. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed. - Posted by: Melanie Peters (Friend) on: Nov 14, 2022

I remember first week Gary came over to Pembina Trails School Division Transportation Dept from being an assistant caretaker and one day while he was in training I approached Gary behind while he was post tripping his bus I introduced myself and he introduced himself to me and I told Gary to give driving bus 3 mths and it will start to feel “natural” and that to remember that the pick up and drop off times for students “are a timeline not a dead line“. And fast forward several years later Gary became the driver trainer instructor and on occasion that I would go by his office and he would have his earphones on while reviewing bus video tapes and I would stick my head in to say hello if his office door was open and he would take his head phones off and we would chat for a bit and just as I was about to leave his office I would say to Gary ... “just remember“ and Before I could say the next line in my sentence would look at me and half laughing half smiling say with me in unison “it’s a timeline not a deadline“ and I would give him a hug and a slap on the back and leave his office chuckling and smiling still and I could still hear Gary still chuckling to himself as we both continued our days. Over the past year from Late winter I to spring 2022 I would run into Gary at the HSC rehab hospital in physio therapy as he was off work recovering from another surgery and I was off work recovering from a motor vehicle accident and Gary and I would laugh seeing each other in the same clinic and greet with again a big brother to brother type huh / chuckle and a slap on the back of respect for each other That is the Gary I remember and will always remember. I know I speak for all Pembina Trails Transportation Dept employees that Gary was one of a kind ... a throw back to what made men ... men and he will be missed by all who he shared his workspace with ... the new employees he trained to successfully get their class 2 school bus driver license ... and the many co-workers he shared this journey called life with Respect always Your co/worker and friend Robin Tymkin - Posted by: Robin Tymkin (Friend/ co-worker ) on: Sep 18, 2022

I cannot express my sadness in hearing the passing of Gary. As we were not in contact for several years I often thought about Gary and Karen Sandy and uncle Gord. To hear about the passing of a young man with as always remembered with a smile and a gentle soul is unfair. Rest In Peace Pooky - Posted by: Greg Letvak (Cousin ) on: Sep 18, 2022
