He was always helping with the farm growing up. Hugh attended Tilston School and later Pierson School for his high school education. Hugh met the love of his life Pamela Parley at a social in Tilston. Pamela was attending Brandon University studying for her degree in education, so many trips back and forth to visit her in Brandon, MB soon followed. The two were wed Nov. 27, 1982. The newlyweds rented a trailer down the road from the family farm which Hugh worked on, they lived there with Pamela's beloved cat Whiskers who Hugh came to care for deeply. They later bought Matilda and George Phillips farm across the road from the family farm. This is where they welcomed their first child Nicholas on Sept. 15, 1988. They later built their house on the farm in 1993 and welcomed their second child Ashley on Dec. 24, 1993. The two lived a great life together with Pamela unfortunately passing away in a car crash on Jan. 9, 2003. Hugh then spent his life working on the farm and raising Nicholas and Ashley. Hugh passed away on Sept. 13, 2022 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB following a battle with heart failure. Hugh enjoyed playing hockey in his younger years, playing goalie with the Tilston Flames and later Ruin'd Bruins. He also enjoyed following his favourite hockey team, the Winnipeg Jets, watching all of their games and coming into Winnipeg to attend games with Ashley. Hugh enjoyed hunting over the years.
