JOSEPH EDWARD SILMAN JR.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Silman Jr. on September 28, 2022, born August 30, 1979, the only child of Eve and Joseph Silman, and Dad to Roxy and Cash.
Joe passed away suddenly after a brief illness and will be forever missed, loved and remembered by his parents, Joseph and Eve Silman; his darling children, Roxy and Cash (mom Marcy), along with his aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends and work buddies.
Joe's K-12 years were spent at St. Maurice School, continuing his education at Red River College in the carpentry program, leading to a fulfilling career where he proved to be a man of fine skill and talents. Working these past years at Assiniboine Park Zoo brought him much joy, and his children always burst with pride when they could visit and spot their Dad fixing an animal cage.
Joe loved the outdoors and made many happy memories fishing with his friends, who were incredibly important to him. He had a sharp sense of humour and could always tell a good story. To know Joe was to instantly love him and find a new best friend.
Good night, sweet prince.

I just heard about Joe today and my heart aches, what a devastating loss. I had only met him a handful of times but he left a forever imprint. What a bright light he was in this world. His smile, his humor, his helping nature, would do anything for a friend. I will always think of him with beautiful memories. Sending love and healing to his family and friends♡ - Posted by: adrienne (friend ) on: Jan 09, 2023

I was recently informed of Joe's passing by a St. Maurice classmate of his. I am saddened by the loss to your family, as I remember Joe as being a very friendly and personable man. It pleased me that Joe's time at St. Maurice School must have been memorable for his attendance here to be noted in the obituary. I have shared the sad news of Joe's passing with other teachers he would have had while here at St. Maurice. May God bless him with peace, Bryan Doiron, current Principal and Joe's former science Teacher, St. Maurice School - Posted by: Bryan Doiron (Joe's Science Teacher) on: Oct 13, 2022

(Jason speaking) - I still remember "Little Joe" as a child of about 10 or 11 when I first became part of the family. Since we have unfortunately drifted apart from the various cousins and family branches over the years, these are my most clear and poignant memories. He was a cute kid and always nice to be around. I hope that he has found peace, My very heartfelt condolences to Joe and Eve. - Posted by: Jason and Gina Carter (Cousin and spouse) on: Oct 13, 2022

My thoughts are with the family of Joe. I had the opportunity to work with Joe at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Joe was a dedicated professional carpenter whom enjoyed the challenge to construct items needed to ensure the safety, operation and the zookeeper ability to deal with unique animals. No one gets trained to build items for wild animals but Joe adapted and learned everyday and was not afraid to ask. I was truly impressed how he took on projects and completed them with a keen eye on details. He will be missed by his co-workers and friends. - Posted by: John Toothill (Co-worker ) on: Oct 09, 2022

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Joe. I can remember the first time I met Joe Jr and I loved coaching him along side his father. Very fond memories of his childhood and sharing those moments with my children/family. I was reunited with Joe as we both worked together at APC. I had many good conversations with Joe that brought us even closer. I will cherish those moments forever. - Posted by: . (Mike Woollard ) on: Oct 07, 2022

So saddened to hear of Joey’s passing. We started a friendship when he was 8 and I was 12. Despite our age difference we had common interests and I enjoyed his company immensely. He had an infectious smile and was immediately likeable. I am glad we got to connect again later as adults and wish he had more time on this earth. I offer my deepest condolences to his entire family. - Posted by: Nevil Stephens (Friend) on: Oct 07, 2022

Our family is devastated with our loss. Joey mentored my son Ben in younger years. Joey's charm, wisdom and sense of humour leaves a void never to be filled. Love forever Uncle Mike - Posted by: mike silman (uncle) on: Oct 01, 2022

Our deepest condolences on the loss of your dear son. He was a sweet, friendly boy, always with a smile on his face. We remember him as Joey, as we did not get to know him as an adult. He was very well liked by all the neighbourhood children on North Drive, and he always had a smile for the adults as well. Our heartfelt sympathy for this terrible loss. - Posted by: Alana and Carl Stephens (Former neighbours) on: Oct 01, 2022
