ISABEL MARGARET JANE (VANN) ROURKE

Surrounded by love on September 17, 2022, Isabel Margaret Jane (Vann) Rourke, age 91, left us to join her beloved Ed.
Isabel is survived by daughter Lori Wahoski (Ron Wahoski), sons, Mike (Karen) and Jim (Marilyn); grandchildren, Tricia Fines (Ryan), Matthew Wahoski, Jennifer and Shaun Rourke; great- grandchildren, Brooke-Lyn Wahoski, Chris and Grace Fines, Ella and Zavery Wahoski, Preston and Peyton Ball; sister- in-law Lil Rourke, brother-in-law Brian Littlewood and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband Edwin (2014), parents, Walter and May Vann, in- laws, Jack and Minnie Rourke, grandson Christopher Wahoski; brother James Vann.
Isabel graduated a R.N. from Victoria General Hospital and had a long, dedicated career in nursing and health care administration including Mount Carmel Clinic alongside Anne Ross, Minnedosa Hospital and Stonewall and District Health Centre. Isabel spent 22 years as administrator in Stonewall and saw the hospital evolve into a modern hospital and health centre, Rosewood Lodge and Stonewood Place. Isabel was hard working, progressive and driven to provide quality patient, resident and community health care.
Isabel and Ed loved to be with family and friends. They loved gardening, camping and travelling. After Hurricane Katrina they made many trips hauling camping trailers to New Orleans for survivors to live in.
Isabel lived in her own home until April thanks to the dedicated Minnedosa Home Care Team and homemaker friend Chris. She then moved to Erickson Personal Care Home and was cared for by the compassionate staff in Erickson. She was so grateful for the many people who cared for her. The family thanks all of you.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church, Bethany, MB with luncheon to follow in the Bethany Hall. As Ed and Isabel wished, their ashes will be interred together in the Boyd Cemetery, Bethany, MB.
In lieu of flowers, please support a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • The Nicholl family offers condolences to the family of Isabel. Our families have been life long friends. I (Elaine) remember the story of my dad picking up Isabel to take her to work along with my mother who was in labour with me in a cold winter day in December. Our families had many good times together over a lot of years. Now Rest In Peace dear Isabel. - Posted by: Elaine Nicholl (family friends) on: Oct 08, 2022
