David Peter McDonald Dawson passed away October 2, 2022. He was born in Scotland on June 20, 1953 to Mary and Christopher Dawson, who immigrated to Winnipeg when Dave was three. He grew up in Elmwood with his two older brothers, Bill and Christopher Jr. and his younger sister Jeanette.

Growing up, he loved playing sports with his favourite being baseball, where he excelled as a back catcher. He loved NFL Sundays and was a diehard fan of the Raiders for over 40 years.
He married the love of his life, Betty Dueck in 1974 and was a loving, kind and generous father to Angela (Terrence) and Justin (Juliya). He was an adoring grandpa to Nick, Kayleigh and Jayla Ouellette and Alex, Jasmine and Anthony Dawson. Our family is our greatest life's work.
He was a determined, hard-working man, often acknowledged for his work ethic. He welcomed retirement at age 62 with his wife.
His lung disease began in 2016 and he passed away, peacefully, with his family by his side.

  • David was always a friendly and welcoming friend. I met David when we were 11 or 12 and after a game of soccer and he started calling me Jungle Jim. Not sure why but this nick name stayed a couple of years. I always felt welcomed in his house and remember those Dawson parties during the wild 70’s. My condolences to his family Jim Omori - Posted by: Jim Omori (Childhood fried) on: Oct 30, 2022

I only knew Dave through your Facebook stories and pictures, from what I can tell you had a wonderful marriage and beautiful friendship. • Dave was the hardest working man I knew. Work together at cp express. We had a lot of fun times and laughs plus a few drinks as well. My condolences to your family Dave and I'm sure will meet again. - Posted by: Larry mostowy (Co worker) on: Oct 12, 2022

  • My heart hurts for the whole family! I met Angie in Tyndall park when we lived mere houses from one another … I don’t even think we were five years old! Dave was always a friendly person and he would joke around plenty with us! He was always kind towards me although I think Ang and I drove him nuts running circles around him in the basement as he tried to watch wrestling on tv! His love for his wife Betty and his children Angie and Justin was so strong and he was super proud of them all! Dave will forever be cherished and remembered by all who knew him! My heartfelt condolences to Betty, Angie, Justin your spouses and your children! Dave will always be with you and know that he cares so deeply for you all!
