DAVID ANDREW GUY
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of David Andrew Guy on October 03, 2022, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.
David was born and lived in Winnipeg for the duration of his life. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend with a strong devotion and affection for his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Nellie Guy, son Travis Guy (Nicole); siblings, Rob Guy (Leslie), Cathie Pickerl (Dennis); brothers-in-law, James Mekish (Geri), Frank Yurkowski (Colleen), Robert Marcil (Shannon); nephews, Andrew (Lori), Riley (Ally), Eric (Bailie), Daryl (Jill), Cullen, Callum; nieces, Maddi (Andrew), Lee-Ann (DJ), Cheryl, Lori-Ann (Pete); great-nieces, Kianna (Tate), Faith, Sophie, Evelyn; great-nephews, Marcus, Malcolm, Colton, Petey, Carter; and his grand fur children (Zeus, Nala, Katniss). He is predeceased by his parents, William and Beryl Guy and brother-in-law Victor Yurkowski.
David was a Winnipeg Transit bus driver for 32 years before retiring in 2021. For those 32 years he held a perfect driving record. David won awards for his transit service in 1992, 2007, and 2013, the latter being Bus Driver of the Year. He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved going for long walks, hikes in Canada's national/provincial parks and camping. In addition, one of his passions was photography. He would often be seen with his long camera lens' at family events, as well as capturing shots of various wildlife and landscapes on his adventures.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the EMS and St. Boniface care teams for their exceptional, compassionate care. In addition, they would like to thank Cherrille Price and Kurt and Michele Quigley for their ongoing love and support.
A Celebration of Life will take place on October 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 350 Gilmore Avenue.
Donations in honour of David's memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or CancerCare Manitoba.
If David were here with us today, we believe he would say, "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".

My sincere condolences to David's family on his passing. Although I didn't know David well, working with him at Transit, I remember him as a quiet and very nice man.
