CORAZON BASA MANGUERRA
December 18, 1940 – October 16, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Corazon Basa Manguerra, who was taken from us, her loved ones, suddenly and painfully early in the morning of Sunday, October 16, 2022.
Born December 18, 1940 in Bigaa, Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines, Corazon (known as "Cora" and "Azon" to relatives and friends and as "Achun", "Tita" or "Ate" to siblings, cousins, many, many nephews and nieces) was the second eldest of 10 children born to Jose M. Manguerra, Sr. and Exequiela B. Manguerra. She was predeceased by both parents (Jose Sr. and Exequiela), her older brother Jose Jr., niece Maeryll, younger brother Jessie (who died at the age of four years old), brother-in-law Francisco I. Cantalejo, and her aunts and uncles. She is survived by her siblings, Celia, Nene, Bonifacio "Boy" (Mileng), Natalia "Baby" (Ernedo), Carlos "Totie" (Leah), Fe, Crisente (Emerita) and many, many nieces and nephews.
She came to Canada in 1974, recruited to work in Winnipeg's growing garment / textile industry, spending most of her working career as a seamstress at Modern Headwear before retiring.
She will always be remembered for her loving care, sacrifice and unselfish devotion to her family, friends and relatives. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League and for years happily served at St. Edward the Confessor Church on Arlington Street. She also loved gardening and found great joy at nurturing many colourful varieties of flowers.
Viewing (Lamay) will take place at Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery (4477 Main Street, West Saint Paul, MB), commencing at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church (836 Arlington Street). Interment/Burial will immediately follow at Glen Eden.
The family would like to thank all the paramedics who responded to the scene, all of the medical, nursing, and support staff of the Health Sciences Centre Emergency Department and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit who attended to our sister's needs and comfort. Everyone's efforts are well-appreciated.

Rest in Pease Achun. Thank you for all you have done for all of us. Know that we will be okay! We can take care of ourselves now. We love you so much.
