Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDE CORBY: Peacefully on October 19, 2022, Jacqueline (Jacquie) (nee Platana) passed away at home at the age of 98. Jacquie's daughter was in attendance when she passed. Born near Indian Head, Saskatchewan on July 6, 1924, Jacquie was the third child of Marthe and Antoine Platana, granddaughter of the late Victorine and Alfred Latreille. Jacquie is survived by her son, Daniel (Dianne); daughter, Arlette; grandchildren Wolf Higgins and Bryn Higgins-Dungan; nephew/Godson, Terrence Platana, only child of her eldest brother, Daniel (Sadie); sisters-in-law, Mary (Harvey), Edith (John), Sister Elizabeth Anne, Finna (Henry), Anna (George); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; relatives in Corsica, as well as many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmond; mother and father, Marthe and Antoine Platana; sister, Monique Platana; brothers, Daniel, Gaston and Harvey; aunts, Therese, Helene and Simone; sisters-inlaw, Sadie Platana, Irene Lawlor, Hilda Carter; brothers-in-law, Henry De Corby, George De Corby, Ray Carter, John Mc Geough; nephews, Peter Platana, Alain De Corby. Jacquie, her siblings and parents moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where she graduated Grade 12 from Central Collegiate. She then enrolled and graduated from Business Secretarial studies at Balfour Technical Institute, Regina. She met her husband, Edmond and they were married August 21, 1948. Jacquie was working at Massey-Harris (later Massey Ferguson) until she became pregnant with her son, Daniel who was born in 1957. She took on the role of stay-at-home Mom for a few years, until after her daughter was born and re-entered the workforce in 1964. In 1971, the family moved to Thompson, Manitoba where Jacquie was employed within the private and Provincial sectors between 1971 and her retirement in 1988 as Administrative Assistant, Province of Manitoba Department of Labour, Regional Offices of Apprenticeship Division, Employment Standards Division, Mechanical & Engineering Division, Office of the Fire Commissioner. In the early 1990's, Jacquie and her husband moved to Brandon, Manitoba. As a young girl, she enjoyed horseback riding, skiing and skating, often playing hockey with her brothers and friends. Jacquie also enjoyed Bridge and knitting, making sweaters and afghan blankets for family, relatives and friends. She and her husband enjoyed curling and participated in mixed bonspiels in Regina and Thompson. Jacquie was an active member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada, which she joined in 1963 in Regina, and remained a member after moving to Thompson and when she retired to Brandon, Manitoba. She was a CWL member of the St. Augustine of Canterbury Council, Brandon holding council positions of Treasurer and President. She was also on the Winnipeg Archdiocesan Council, as Treasurer and Communication, Jacquie was the recipient of the CWL Bellelle Guerin Award in April 2011, which is a special award given to CWL members who have contributed at the parish, diocesan or provincial level with extraordinary service to the League. She also received the Maple Leaf pin in 1999, which is presented to CWL members who have served the League in an exceptional or meritorious manner. In 2018, Jacquie received her 50 years pin from the St. Augustine's Council. Jacquie was also a member over several decades of the Lioness Club in Regina and Thompson. Jacquie was a kind, warm and giving person who will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends. Monday August 21, 2023 will mark the 75th wedding anniversary of Jacquie and Edmond. To commemorate her life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on that date at St. Augustine of Canterbury

Roman Catholic Church, 327 4th Street, Brandon, MB. Interment of her ashes will follow at Brandon Cemetery. Donations may be made in Jacquie's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
