TREWIN: Jim passed away November 11, 2021 at age 73 at his residence in Brandon Mb. He was born in Deloraine Mb. to Forbes and Grace Trewin of Waskada Mb. He married the love of his life Paulette Fairchild, and they celebrated their 51st anniversary September 5, 2021. They lived at the home farm and raised three sons, Jeff, Greg and Wade at Waskada where the boys learned at early ages to help with the farming and that it is lots of hard work required to be a farmer. Jim was fortunate to have a hockey career that started in 1966 with FlinFlon Bombers, Brandon Wheat Kings, drafted by Oakland Seals, Port Huron, Johnstown Jets (EHL), Trail (WIHL) and Waskada Comets. He returned to his hometown after hockey where he coached his sons in Minor hockey and was proud of their hockey careers and to see granddaughter Morgan play as well. He enjoyed grandson Forbes mastering his many tricks and jumps on a scooter at the skate parks in Kelowna. Jim was very proud of all three sons becoming business owners (thinking he taught them) and pleased to see Morgan so interested and being a big help on the farm. Being such a good cook, Grandpa loved the fresh homemade cookies. He got involved in politics and served as councilor and Reeve of RM of Arthur and survived the flood of all times of the Souris River. Paulette and Jim enjoyed many winter holidays but found Hawaii their favorite place. They moved to Brandon in 2010 and liked the conveniences of city life but continuing to be part of the farm. In 2017 they purchased a retirement home in Kelowna BC which they shared with Wade and Forbes. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife Paulette, sons Jeff and Greg of Waskada and Wade of Kelowna; grandchildren Morgan and Forbes. Also mourning his loss is his sister Margaret Anne and her family Laurie (Joel), Philip (Kristie) and families. A Memorial Service for Jim was held at Waskada Cemetery on his birthday May 11, 2022 Cousins Jim Hartry and Marlene Helowka honoured his life with memories of his growing up years and Marlene concluded the service in Song and Prayer. A time of visitation and lunch was served by Waskada Legion Ladies in the Legion Hall. Paul Smith of Wheatland Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements. Thank you to our family, Paul Smith for his very comforting care of handling the arrangements, and to the Legion Ladies for the delicious lunch. A Special Thank you to Jim and Marlene for honouring Jim in such a special way and our extended families for their comfort and support. Also thank you to everyone for the phone calls, visits, and flowers to our homes. Thank you for the many donations to the Waskada Cemetery and other memoriams.
