WALTER (WALLY) ROY KIMPTON
December 15, 1941 - November 26, 2022
We have lost one of the good ones.
On Saturday, November 26, 2022, battling serious illness, Wally unexpectedly passed away. He was a gentle and kind man and a loving husband to Debbi who in his words was "such a good fit". He will be greatly missed.
Wally enjoyed his 36 year teaching career in Transcona-Springfield School Division, carpooling with his good friend Lorraine. His love of the folk music scene began early and continued through his life. He had fond memories of his time at the Fourth Dimension. Wally was a truly proud Canadian and supporter of the Arts. He loved the CBC and the CFL and was a season ticket holder for many years with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (even though he was a Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, we loved him anyway). Wally was a voracious reader, daily crossword puzzle solver and had a wealth of trivia knowledge. He was happiest with a glass of red wine, a book and Debbi by his side.
Wally leaves behind in great sorrow, his beloved wife Debbi Miles, sister Edith Lyons, son Michael Kimpton and partner; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Gordon and Jennifer Miles, Mark Miles, Vince and Cathi Cerasani. He was Uncle Wally to many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply and who loved him in return.
Wally's life will be celebrated with a Come and Go on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Main Gallery at the William Glesby Centre, 11 - 2nd St. NE, Portage la Prairie, MB. There will be a toast in his honour at 2:30 p.m.
If you wish to honour Wally's life by making a donation, please consider supporting the Arts.

Dear Debbi, First off I'm feeling fine. Just sitting around today reminiscing and looking up Winnipeg connections. We never really lost touch as I've often wondered how you were and discover now you were fine. With Wally by your side. I'm sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was such a strong, loving person. Take care. Anne (Stevens) Pajamaki - Posted by: Anne ( Stevens) Pajamaki (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2023

So sorry to hear of Wally's passing. I first met Wally when I started teaching. Wally had been teaching for awhile and he took me under his wing, so to speak. We had fun both in and out of school. Many a night enjoying the entertainment at the Viscount Gort. Wally was very sharp with a great sense of humour. He was always up for a new adventure and not afraid to speak his mind. I lost touch with Wally when he moved out to Portage but would think about him from time to time with a smile on my face. Wally did his way which I always respected. Enjoy your glass of wine Wally. - Posted by: Patrick Bend (colleague and friend) on: Dec 03, 2022
