EMIL LANGE
January 21, 1933 – November 28, 2022

Dad passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning, after a brief illness. He was 89 years young.
Dad now joins his wife of 61 years, Yvonne, his parents, Heinrich and Lydia, his brother and best friend, Fred, his sisters Toby (Paul), Hanna, Frieda (Wally), Ruth, and infant brother, Harold.
Dad leaves precious memories with Chuck and Janet, Rhonda and Roger and Harold and Annette. Also with grandchildren, TJ and Kristen, Chris and Carissa, Steven, Kerstyn and Cameron. And especially with great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Savannah, Adeline, Leanna and Brooks. He also leaves behind his treasured last surviving sibling, Rita (Peter), and in-laws, Gerty, Jeurgen and Manfred.
Dad was born in around the German - Polish border, immigrated to Canada in 1951.
Dad married Yvonne Ritchot in September 1956 and moved to Blueridge Bay, Transcona, in July of 1960. They lived on Blueridge until Mom's passing in 2018. In August 2018, Dad moved into Devonshire House on Plessis.
Dad was a furrier by trade. He worked not only in his own company but with many other prominent companies, raising the standards in each one.
Dad was respectful, kind, courteous and gracious. He treated people the way people should be treated. Dad was, above all, a true gentleman.
A special thanks to Shola Unrau and her amazing staff of home care people for their dedication to Dad's care and quality of life. As well, to the staff and fellow residents of Devonshire House 2 for truly making his apartment his home.
Mom and Dad loved their dogs so in lieu of flowers, or if of a mind, please donate to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Celebration of Life to take place on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. A private interment to take place in the future.

  • I am very sorry for your loss. I met Emil and Yvonne in 1978 when I was dating their nephew, Dusty (Ralph). They were both always so kind and always made me feel at home. One memory I have is one day we were visiting and Emil had an old iron Singer sewing machine stand just sitting beside the house. I commented on it and he asked me if I’d like it. Of course I said yes! I had a beautiful wooden table top made for it and still have and use it to this day. - Posted by: Kathy (Boles) Eden (old family friend ) on: Dec 08, 2022

  • Emil was my father's first and favorite cousin. He was a wonderful man. I would be greeted happily by him at church, on Sundays. He was a true believer and is now with The Lord. He will be greatly missed. I am praying for the family at this difficult time. - Posted by: Carmen Guenther (Second cousin) on: Dec 04, 2022

  • Although I haven't seen you for many years I still have fond memories of Yvonne and Emil. I used to bowl with them. Also, Emil made me a fur coat which I enjoyed for many years. • I had the pleasure of meeting Emil at Devonshire....It was always so nice talking to him, with his bright personality and he was a true gentleman. I remember when he first got his new, fancy scooter and he was a little nervous driving at first but boy it didn't take him long to have control of it...He looked so cute on it. Another memory I have is his birds that he loved to watch as they came and got bird food from the feeder...I believe he said his son had just stacked him up on a new bag of food not too long ago. My heartfelt condolences to all his family and loved ones. RIP Emil One of a kind - Posted by: Sharon Mouritsen (Front Desk at Devonshire House 1) on: Dec 03, 2022
