Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • So sorry to read this, this morning. I know you have lots of happy memories and I hope these memories will get you through your days ahead. It’s difficult to loose a parent and more difficult just before Christmas. Our thoughts are with you at this time. - Posted by: Vi Malach (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2022

  • Hi Christine and Family. First of all, our heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mom. You and I were friends way back in elementary school and I spent a lot of time at your house after school. Some of my fondest memories are those of your mom giving a group of us drawing lessons in your basement. I still have my spiral drawing pads and have shown them to my grandchildren. I never did draw very well but I have always admired your mom’s work. We have a painting of hers that my mom commissioned her to paint of the view from my childhood cottage, out onto the lake. It hangs in our spare room. It never fails to remind me of our friendship and our elementary school days. Again, I’m sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Claudia (Friend) on: Dec 07, 2022

  • I truly was blessed to spend a couple of hours every 5 weeks with Joyce when she came to get her hair done. She had such a beautiful energy about her. We shared some wonderful conversations about her art classes at RiverRidge, her days of teaching art at school, and some candid conversations I think I’ll keep between her and I. I looked forward to our visits, and it saddens me to know there will be no more. RIP Joyce. Until we meet again. My sincere condolences to her family, friends and all of those whose lives she touched. - Posted by: Lisa Glass (Hairstylist) on: Dec 04, 2022

  • Sorry to learn of Joyce's passing. Her and I go way back to the 80's when we were on The board for River East Art & Craft assoc. We had many art related conversations and a lot of great times painting and displaying our paintings in malls and at her last show with Mb. Art Expo. I can't recall a time that she did not have a smile on her face, very appropriate obit. photo. I'm sure she inspired many artists, young and old in her long fulfilled life as artist and teacher. She will be missed Hubert Theroux - Posted by: Hubert Theroux (Friend and fellow artist) on: Dec 03, 2022

  • Joyce graced us with her gifts of art and friendship, that began when she was a small child with my grandmother and mother. She was a constant in our lives. She was poised and always in beautiful attire, her jewelry and smiles sparkling. To me she was a princess. It is with great sadness we say goodbye. It has been a blessing to have known her. Love and condolences to her children and their families. - Posted by: Noraleen Loewen (Melvin) (Friend ) on: Dec 03, 2022

  • Joyce was such an appropriate name as she sought and found beauty and Joy in all manner of life's experiences. This Joy found expression through her life long creation of an array of Paintings and Sculptures that brighten the walls and hearts of so many lives. It was my deep pleasure to have known her throughout my life. She will be sorely missed. May peace and love be your constant companion forever more. - Posted by: russell melvin (Friend) on: Dec 03, 2022

  • Joyce was a very special person in our families' lives, her generosity of heart will be remembered always. Her talent was exceptional, and we all have pieces of her art on the walls of our homes. We will miss you Joyce and send our thoughts and condolences to the Brent and Christine and their families. - Posted by: Teena Cottingham (Sister) on: Dec 03, 2022

  • My father is a resident at River Ridge, where Joyce also lived. I learned of her story and her amazing art, and would always see her smiling face when I visited my dad. Her stunning art pieces generously grace many walls at River Ridge. The fact that she used her art as therapy, and was so willing to share it with her students, was an encouragement to me. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing, but am glad it was peaceful. Her legacy of beauty, service and grace will live on. Condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Lydia Penner (Admirer of her art) on: Dec 03, 2022
