LINDA MARGARET WINCH
Born: May 06, 1950
Date of Passing: Dec 03, 2022
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINCH: Linda Margaret (nee Dittmer) passed away, unexpectedly but peacefully, at her home in Brandon, Manitoba on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Linda was born May 6, 1950 to Henry and Beverly Dittmer in Antler, Saskatchewan. Growing up on the family farm on the Manitoba - Saskatchewan border, she attended Clover Hill School, a prototypical one room prairie schoolhouse, before moving on to graduate from Reston Collegiate High School. Linda moved to Brandon, Manitoba in 1968 to start her own family with the births of her sons Troy and Aaron. Her parents and brothers, Murray and Randy, soon followed, bringing Linda's full family to the Wheat City. In Brandon, Linda worked at Safeway and enjoyed weekend getaways at Minnedosa and Otter lakes. In 1979, Linda and her family moved to Swift Current, Saskatchewan, where on top of her day job, she became a full-time Hockey Mom, traveling all over the prairies so her boys could live the Canadian dream of playing hockey, hockey and more hockey. Eventually, these hockey travels would take her all the way to Ottawa, across the northeast USA and even to Tokyo. After a brief stay in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Linda lived in Regina, Saskatchewan and Deer Valley, Saskatchewan for extended periods of time before resettling in Brandon in 2007. She was once again close to her parents and siblings, before the passing of her father Henry in 2008 and her mother Beverly earlier this year. She enjoyed curling and hockey on TV and several winter stays in Florida. But, the real lights in Linda's life at this stage were her grandchildren Makena, Jasper, Koele and Cabri, and her constant sidekick Winston, a handful of a Yorkshire Terrier. Linda was predeceased by her parents Henry and Beverly and her infant sister Laurie. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Troy and Aaron; Troy's fiancée Karla; and her grandchildren Makena, Jasper, Koele and Cabri; as well as her brothers Murray (Patricia) Dittmer and Randy (Lorrie) Dittmer. A time of visitation will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon on Saturday, December 10, 2022 (TODAY) from 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. The Celebration of Linda's Life will take place at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception at Memories Chapel. Christmas was far and away Linda's favorite time of year and as such, in lieu of flowers, the family would request donations in memory of Linda be made to a local Christmas based charity of your choice, such as Toys for Tots or holiday meals for the underprivileged.
Mother, thank you for all your love and sacrifices. You will be forever in our hearts and thoughts.
