  • Evan will truly be missed. A gentle soul with a huge smile he graced the halls of St John's first as a student (and basketball champion) and then as an Educator (winning basketball coach with his dear friend Jon Jon). He was a magnet for students - all drawn to him because of his genuine interest in what they had to say - he was an adult that listened. His colleagues were drawn to him because of his kindness, true care and interest. We were saddened when he retired, but were very happy for the time he would be able to enjoy with Cathy and Cherise. We are saddened that this time was short and I send both my condolences. He will truly be missed. Sending love and light to all who knew him. Safe travels Evan, "Vichnya Pam Yat", Rest Eternal... - Posted by: Michelle Shmyr-becker (Co-worker) on: Jan 05, 2023

  • My deepest of sympathy to Evan's wife and daughter. I also offer my condolences to his mom Anna, his siblings, and his numerous nieces and nephews. I want to begin by saying that I have had the absolute luxury of knowing Evan since my teenage years. I first met Evan when he, my brother and many other neighborhood fellas use to have their daily pick up game of basketball over at Champlain school. As the years passed, our paths just continued to cross. It wasn't uncommon for us to run into each other while attending social events and/or activities. This was because some of his/my friends and acquaintances ran together in the same circle(s). As fate would have it, in 2000 I started teaching at St. John's High School where Evan was proudly employed for 25+ years and once again we greeting, laughing and reminiscing about old times and our now "grown up" married with children lives. One thing was always evident and as clear as day when the 2 of us had conversations ... HE LOVED HIS WIFE AND HE LOVED HIS DAUGHTER. I will truly miss you Evan Tynes. You had such a beautiful spirit my dear dear friend. I love yiu and may God bless you and your soul. Rest in Peace Evan Linda Dmyterko (nee Stewart) - Posted by: Linda Dmyterko (nee Stewart) (Friend and collegue) on: Jan 02, 2023

  • I met “Tynes” while working at St.John’s high school. Such a sweetheart of a guy. Easy going, big smile but also no nonsense. Students responded well to his instruction and knew when it was time to buckle down and get to work. I have not seen Evan since our days together at St. John’s (90s) but some people, you remember with fondness. Tynes was one of those guys. - Posted by: Ed Friesen (Co worker/ St. John’s High School) on: Dec 31, 2022

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I am going to miss Evan's smile, hugs, and sense of humor. Evan was one of those people that brightened a person's day just by saying hello. He was a great listener and he was always there if you needed a shoulder to cry on. His positive energy was contagious. Where ever Evan was, there was a group of kids that followed. The kids at St. John's absolutely loved him. He had such a big heart and he had so much love to give, Evan went way to soon!
