Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I first met Ron in 2007. I thought of him as an old man back then. Now after I aged 16 years, now he didn't appear to me to be that old. Over the years he turned into be a friend, a mentor, and some one full of wisdom. Always had good stories and we laughed most of the time. We both developed a deep respect and trust for each other. Hard to replace a person like Ron. I will miss him. My condolences to Onni and his family. - Posted by: Vivian Schubert (Friend) on: Jan 09, 2023

  • I first met Ron at a gun show where he told me that he was unhappy in his employment of selling Gestetners. I needed finance to take my dear family to Expo 67 in Montreal. Ron then solved both problems....... 1. He purchased my entire gun collection and was able to start a new career selling guns, which carried on for the rest of his life. 2. I was able to purchase a pickup truck and camper which my family and I enjoyed significantly. I continued to see Ron once a year. These contacts had nothing to do with guns. They were just friendly discussions that were of interest to both of us. Ron himself, and his many friends loved to call him “Rotten Ron”. The sharing of life’s stories continued until Ron’s life came to an end. I will miss Ron and never forget him, for all the kindness that he shared with me until his passing. - Posted by: Barry McPherson (friend) on: Jan 05, 2023

  • I have known the Serbin Family for most of my life. Growing up in River Heights and playing in the park on Lanark. Ron Jr. and I went to school from about grade 1 onward. Corrine and Ron Jr and a bunch of us would hang out and skateboard play street hockey in front of the Serbin Family house. I was fortunate to have Ron Sr as a football coach at Sir John Franklin CC and Ron Jr and I played hockey as well together. Later on I would bump into Ron Sr at various shows and always said hello and ask how everyone was doing. Going to miss catching up . RIP Coach - Posted by: Craig Broughton (Family Friend) on: Dec 31, 2022

  • Ron was one of the guys that we hung around with so many years ago in South Point Douglas where the neighborhood was more like the Bowery. At that time he was a little more reserved than most of us, but in recent years when we met at Boogies he was more sure of himself and his beliefs. It was interesting to hear him tell of his trips. Sorry to lose you Ron. Time for you to rest. - Posted by: MARTIN JOHNSON (friend) on: Dec 31, 2022

  • I met Ron many years ago. We had the same interests, was always a pleasure to run into Ron at one of the many shows we all attended! It’s a huge loss to many people to say hood bud to Him ! My thoughts and prayers are with Ron’s family at this time. - Posted by: Gerry frost (Friend ) on: Dec 31, 2022

  • I met Ron through a dear friend, Wayne Cline who has also passed away. His knowledge in collecting was vast and he always had top quality stuff. He will be greatly missed. Our sincere condolences to Ron's family. - Posted by: Tim and Linda Popp (collecting friend) on: Dec 31, 2022
