VALERIE ANNE MCCORKELL August 24, 1943 - January 3, 2023

Sadness fills our hearts and thoughts as we mourn the sudden passing of Valerie. A beautiful soul, wife, mother, grandmother. Val was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Betty Haynes.
She leaves behind her husband James "Jim"; sons, Sean (Mylinda) and Ben (Ryann); three grandchildren, Matthew, Brendan, and Morgan; brother Michael Haynes and sister Christine Gamble; and many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Val was born in Manchester, England and spent all her working years dedicated to education - Teacher, Guidance counselor, Principal, friend and mentor. Val lived and worked in Selkirk, Manitoba and eventually moved to Winnipeg where she retired from Seven Oaks School Division.
Her love of gardening and her grandchildren were her passion following retirement. She will be forever loved and missed.

  • I am so sorry to hear of Valerie’s sudden passing. Valerie was the apple of her parents eye. She was a beauty with piercing blue eyes and Mia Farrow good looks. Her soft spoken nature and charismatic appeal made her light up a room. I have many memories of airport pick ups in New York with my grandparents when she returned from adventures with Jim as they taught around the world. I remember the stories of Mr Dawaki the tax collector in Nigeria and driving a ski doo to school in northern Manitoba. She lived an interesting life and gave a lot of herself to those she cared of. Rest easy Val - Posted by: Julie Hutka (Niece) on: Jan 07, 2023
