JUDITH LORRAINE ADAM
(SAWICKI)

With family by her side, Judy Adam passed away on December 31, 2022.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Eckhard; her sons, Chris (Terri), Kyle (Genafer), and Jeff (Amanda); and her treasured grandsons, Matthew, Grayson, and Edwyn. She is survived by her brother Ed (Judy), brother-in-law Frank (Kali), as well as her nephew, nieces, and many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Jean and John Sawicki, as well as her beloved pets, Mindy and Anni.
Judy was born in St. Boniface and attended school in the community. She studied and practiced as a licenced practical nurse, working at Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospital. She later became a homemaker and demonstrated dedication to the life she built with Eckhard. Judy especially enjoyed supporting her children in their athletic and academic ventures. She took such pride in her family's accomplishments. Whether in the stands at sporting events or cheering from afar, to graduations and marriages, she felt blessed and was so very proud of each and every one of us.
Judy loved music and she was a dedicated volunteer with the Winnipeg Folk Festival for many years, assisting with hotel hospitality and the corner store. Her face would light up to the sounds of familiar tunes - polka, classic rock, jukebox oldies, or the carols of Christmas. Judy was also a member of the Catholic Women's League at St. Joseph the Worker parish.
Spending time with friends, cousins, and family was important to Judy and was happiest when in their company. Growing up, she did so much together with her cousins and had many memorable experiences especially when they 'misbehaved'. She will be deeply missed by them. Much fun and many conversations were had in Tyndall, MB during reunions and barbeques. Judy enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and cheering for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets. Betula Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park was another special place for Judy. Blueberry picking, sitting at the dock with a cold one, and watching her children and grandchildren fish and play were precious memories made over many decades.
Judy battled a number of illnesses over the years, but she remained persevering. In April of 2022, she celebrated her seventy-fifth birthday, and her fiftieth wedding anniversary was commemorated at a luncheon. We are grateful we could gather together that day to honour Judy.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Victoria General Hospital and Grace Hospital for the care provided to Judy during her time in the hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Yasmin Nadeem for her kindness, guidance, and care to Judy over the last fourteen years and Dr. Ian Sutton at the PanAm pain clinic.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held, Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster Street.
Donations in memory of Judy may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

  • I'm sending my deepest sympathy to Eckhard and the family at this very sad time. I hope your memories of the good times will lessen your grief somewhat. Judy became my best pal in grade 7. She became part of our big family..like a sister. We shared so many of our life experiences over the years. We laughed so much...cried together too. We never lost touch, even tho I moved away. We d always pick up where we left off. I'll miss my dear friend very much. But she'll be with me in all my memories. - Posted by: Elaine Trudeau (Friend) on: Jan 07, 2023

  • My condolences to Judy's family on her passing. I remember Judy growing up when she lived on Horace Street and her Mom and Dad on the store at the corner of her street. I would like to share a quote with Judy's family. Judy has not died, but merely gone away to a better place, free of pain and suffering. We will see her again some day. Rest in Peace Judy. You are loved and will be missed. - Posted by: Patricia Homenick (Neighbour on Horace Street) on: Jan 07, 2023
