Elsie Aileen Jackson (nee Huhtala) passed way at Rideau Park on December 29, 2022, at the age of 95. Elsie was born in Rorketon, Manitoba on December 5th, 1927. She cherished her Finnish heritage, and took pride in this throughout her life.
She was known and loved as a teacher, starting in her career in Basswood, MB, where she met her husband, Mac. She influenced many young minds throughout different communities, eventually finishing her career in Brandon in 1982. She travelled extensively upon her retirement, but she particularly enjoyed her time at her cabin at Minnedosa Beach. Elsie was always a very active and independent woman, who was an avid clogger and loved all adventures. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, and treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Elsie was beloved, and will be sorely missed. She was predeceased by Lawrence McIntyre (Mac) in 1989, as well as her parents Jennie and Sulo, brothers Edwin and Vernie, and great-granddaughter, Adria.
She is survived by her cherished sons Barry (Joan) and Don (Wanda), grandchildren Alana (Garth), Angie (Ryan), Kelsi (Joel) and Aaron (Amberlee), and great-grandchildren Calie, Mac, Avery, Connor and Nora. In keeping with her wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date where Elsie will be buried alongside Mac at the Minnedosa Cemetery. The family would like to personally thank Kerri and the staff at Rideau Park for taking care of Mom for the past four years.
