WILLIAM (BILL) BIENER

Dad passed away on January 3, 2023 at the Poseidon care home in his 90th year.
He was predeceased by his wife Kaye Biener, partner Marie Wilson, son Richard Biener and granddaughter Tracey Biener. He is survived by his daughters, Kelly and Merri; and sons, Bill and David, as well as 14 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren.
Dad was born on Clifton Street in Winnipeg, November 13, 1932 and lived most of his life in Winnipeg, with the exception of a 10-year stint in Ashern, MB.
Dad was employed in a variety of jobs over the years, including working on a gas rig in Alberta, and as a conductor for CN before returning to Winnipeg, where he owned and operated a city-wide delivery business for over 30 years.
Dad loved all kinds of sports and games. He was an avid golfer, curler and bowler, and organized many such events in Charleswood and other parts of the city.
The youngest of his family, Dad maintained a close bond with his four brothers and one sister, all of whom predeceased him.
Dad's pride and joy was the cottage he and Marie built on lake Manitoba in St. Laurent. They had lots of good times there with both family and friends. Dad spent his retirement tending to his garden of tomatoes and potatoes, doing repairs and "puttering" in the garage, while enjoying the lake.
A family service will be held this spring at a time to be announced.

  • Hi Bill, my condolences to you and your siblings on your dad’s passing. It’s been a very long time since we spoke, (over 40 years) but I remember vividly working in your garage on Campbell St. on your Dad’s Chevy Station Wagon. I also remember his old green Ford Van that he used for his delivery business. I think he got an orange van in the later 70’s to replace the old green one. Anyways, I’ve thought of you often and wished we’d kept in touch. I only met your dad a couple of times out in the garage, and I found him to be very friendly and very interested in what we were doing. Take care and maybe one day we’ll get together and catch up. - Posted by: Doug Ingram (Old Friend of Bill's from J.B Mitchell School) on: Jan 14, 2023

  • Bill lived a long and happy life and did it his way. Enjoyed many card games at the lake with him and Marilyn. He was a real jokester. He has been missed since moving away from the lake. Sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Corky and Bob Hayden (Friends) on: Jan 14, 2023
