RUDY LYLE KRAHN
July 24,1952 - January 10, 2023
With his wife and daughter by his side, Rudy Lyle Krahn entered Heaven peacefully at the age of 70.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marena, daughter Krystena and son-in-law Ian and his two grandchildren, Charlie and Angelena. Rudy is also survived by his two sisters, Becky (Keith), Eleanor (Mike) and his brother Ted (Rhonda), as well as many extended family members and friends.
Rudy had a passion for life through family, music, tennis and travel. His sense of humour defined his personality and wherever he was or whoever he met; laughter would be centre stage.
There will be a come and go Celebration of Life in Rudy's honour at Breezy Bend Golf & Country Club (7620 Roblin Boulevard, Winnipeg) on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. An Interment Service will be held at Rivers Mennonite Cemetery (Provincial Road 250, Rivers, Manitoba) on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
The family extends their gratitude to the Grace Hospital for their professional and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the CNIB, in remembrance of Riffey and Tukona; the two seeing eye dogs in our extended family who held a special place in Rudy's heart.

Our family has many fond memories of Rudy. An avid tennis player and very faithful armchair football enthusiast. We will always hold fond memories of our New Year's parties together with other neighbors, seeing out one year and welcoming in the new. Of course accompanied by lots of toasts and laughter. Rudy was always our go-to person whenever we needed information on the latest of technology that he would bring back almost annually from the Vegas tech show. We are here and will support Marena, Krissy, Ian and Rudy's precious grandchildren, Charlie and Angelina as they all grieve Rudy's untimely passing. We sympathize and empathise at the same time. We have all walked in your shoes most recently and know that grieving is a journey and not a destination. Time slowly heals. To Marena, Krystena and all Rudy’s family, may I send my deepest condolences on your loss, with the hope that family and friends will help support you at such a sad time. I cannot remember when I first met Rudy, but my life has never been the same since! It was of course at Taylor Tennis club, years ago, in fact decades ago, and I can honestly state that we have never had a cross word, both on or off the court. Saturdays, were always sacrosanct for our doubles, and Rudy’s devilish enthusiasm and humour were paramount. His habit of telling and retelling his repertoire of old jokes was comical, “have I told you this one before”, “YES” we replied in unison, but no stopping Rudy, off he went into the jaded lines, culminating in his raucous laughter either at the court net post or in the locker room … greeted with muted response from the listeners. One the many yarns associated with Rudy, and perhaps an example of his quirky character, and humour, is the time of Halloween when Rudy decided to distribute used tennis balls to the kids, he was doubling up with laughter telling the tale, but best of all was the response from one of the kids “hey mister we can’t eat these ”. Farewell my friend, Saturdays will not be the same. - Posted by: Brian McCann (Friend) on: Jan 16, 2023

Sincere condolences to Krystena and all of Rudy's family. Although some years since I have played tennis with Rudy, I have many pleasant memories of our regular Saturday morning doubles play. Always enjoyed his positive personality and his competitive spirt. Again, my sincere sympathies. Bob Helbrecht - Posted by: Robert Helbrecht (Tennis Friend) on: Jan 15, 2023

So sad to hear this. My condolences to Marena, Krystena, the immediate and extended family. I played against and with Rudy at Taylor Tennis for many years in the 2000's and early 2010's. He was a fierce competitor and the spin he could put on his shots could drive you crazy. But he always did it with a smile on his face. RIP.
