KELLI NICOLE MACKAY
December 23, 1989 - December 30, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our darling daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunty, cousin, niece and loyal friend Kelli on December 30, 2022.
Kelli leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her Dad and Mom Rick and Merril MacKay, beloved brother Kyle MacKay (Laura, niece Grace) and beloved sister Lauren McCurry (Rob, nephew William and niece Abigail).
Kelli was predeceased by her Baba and Zaida Sadie and Mike Wolfson, Grandfather Mel MacKay, Aunt Elaine Wolfson and Uncle Brian MacKay.
Kelli will also be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her grandmother (Joyce MacKay), uncles and aunts, cousins, further extended family and many friends. Kelli loved every member of her family and looked forward to extended family gatherings. She will be in everyone's hearts and minds forever.
Dad, Mom, Kyle and Lauren each has numerous great memories of many fun family trips with Kelli to various destinations in Canada and around the world. We also fondly remember attending her various sporting events and sharing her interests and successes as she grew up in Fort Richmond and, afterwards, establishing her own life reality. Kelli travelled on personal adventures to Thailand with her beloved cousin Carly, to Israel with her beloved cousins Sarah and Crystal and to Australia on her own adventure.
Kelli was a deeply caring and gentle person with a smile that would light up a room. She was extremely compassionate, loved animals and was interested in social justice issues; she wanted to change the world for the better. Kelli was not interested in material things but rather she loved nature and all animals, particularly her pet puppies, Marvin, Walter, Zack and Max that came into her life at different times, her pet cat Gilbert, owls and eagles. She would often text her Dad and Mom with a message that she had seen an animal that she loved. Kelli also loved going for relaxing long drives and experiencing the wonder of full moons. Kelli was humble and had a unique sense of humour. She was extremely observant and intelligent and was successful in completing a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Kinesiology at The University of Winnipeg. Kelli was then selected into the Occupational Therapy program at The University of Manitoba, Kelli also obtained a Public Relations and Strategic Communications Diploma through the Post- Degree Program at The University of Winnipeg. She was an incredibly talented person who loved a good philosophical discussion about many topics.
Kelli was a true, empathetic and caring friend to many people who remember her warmth and her willingness to do what she could to help. Neighbours remember her smile, wave and friendly hello as she walked or drove by.
We will all remember Kelli as a beautiful person inside and out who had so much more life to live and to contribute to our world. We will always love her and are so thankful to Kelli for being who she was. Our world is dimmer as a result of her passing. Kelli is now among the angels and has re-united with family members, friends and pets who have previously passed.
Cremation has taken place and Kelli is now part of nature that she loved so much.
For those who wish to celebrate Kelli's life, her family welcomes you to join them for a Celebration of Life on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Charles Country Club, 100 Country Club Boulevard, Winnipeg.
As a lasting tribute to Kelli, donations may be made in her memory to the Kelli Nicole MacKay Memorial Fund at the Winnipeg Foundation, 1350 One Lombard Place Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 0X3, 204-944-9474 (1-877-974-3631) wpgfdn.org/KelliMacKay. This Fund is intended to be utilized to provide and strengthen assistance to Winnipeg's more vulnerable population. Alternatively, Kelli loved animals and, should you wish, Kelli would have appreciated a donation to an Organization that shares her love of animals or a charity of your choice.

  • My heart aches as I read this as I had no idea. I have walked, cried, laughed, celebrated quite a few times with Kelli. I watched miracles happen around her, so Much so that it almost became more of a normal than a miracle. My prayers are sent, may you feel them when the wind touches your face, the sun warms your skin, the clouds gift shade when life seems too tough. - Posted by: Jennifer (Friend) on: Apr 22, 2023

  • Kelli, my dear girl. I treasure our 30 days together where we met and worked on bettering ourselves. We were surprised we had some “twinning” moments in life - both athletes, then Kinesiology, OT, and wanting to better the world. I will remember being your roommate and going to early morning yoga in the sunshine. I know you are now a beautiful angel, will always miss you and happy to have known you!
