1931 - 2023
On Tuesday, January 12, 2023, Dave, the legend, passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Dave loved life, his family, friends, and his memories of Granite Lake. Always a salesman and a charmer, he was quick with a story to tell or a new one to make. He loved his family, his dogs (the bad ones were his favourite) and his many past and present friends.
He was predeceased by his son Bill, wife Joan, and brothers, Neil and Ken (Maureen). He will be sadly missed by his dearest and closest friend Lill (Mulligan family), daughter Sue (Brad), sons, John (Pauline), Rich (Shari), cherished grandkids, Ryan (Lauren), Mitch (Taylor), Carter, Casey and Bailey, sister Eleanor, and brothers, Robert (Deanne) and Bruce (Norma).
A Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring.
Miss you forever Dad.
Thank-you for all the wonderful memories we will share forever.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)
The Dawson Family, So sorry to hear of your loss. Yes Dave was a legend. I became a great friend of his through my Winnipeg days and also growing up at Granite lake. Our friendship centered around our odd fishing trip at Granite Lake and Clearwater Bay. Also when I came to Winnipeg we would have lunch at Rae and Jerry's bar which was one of his favorite places to dine. Over the past couple of years I have been phoning him regularly and he always would want to talk about Granite Lake and how much he wanted to go back there. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Hugh F Wright (friend) on: Jan 25, 2023
So sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Dave and Jo-Ann Borger - Posted by: David Borger (friend) on: Jan 22, 2023
Uncle Dave certainly was a legend to all of us Dawson’s who lived on the west coast. My Dad (Ken) always took great pride in sharing numerous wonderful stories new and old about Uncle Dave and his legendary exploits. I remember Dave always being there for us on our annual summer treks to Granite Lake too. Dave knew where all the cool spots were around the lake and always enjoyed helping us kids get acclimated as soon as we arrived. He may not have enjoyed all the noise that we made from the bunkhouse, but he never said a word ;) To all those who mourn his passing, may the sadness you feel today be replaced by immense gratitude one day soon. Long live the legend. - Posted by: Jeff Dawson (Nephew ) on: Jan 21, 2023
