HELEN REID

Helen Reid passed away at age 95 on January 6, 2023, at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg. She was preceded by her loving husband of 66 years, Al Reid who passed in 2018. Helen is survived by her children, Phil (Liz-Ann), and Lori (Fred Pollock), and her five grandchildren, Reece, Chanel (Yilmaz Tuncel), Philip, Brittany, and Ashley, plus numerous nephews, and nieces.
Helen was born in Winnipeg, the youngest of the four amazing White sisters. When all together, the sisters truly were a delightful force to be reckoned with – you never knew what antics would follow. Even without them, Helen never merely entered a room – she FILLED it, with her liltingly beautiful voice and voracious spirit. She knew instantly how to make everyone feel welcome and at ease. No one was immune to her charms. She was an amazing hostess, wowing her friends with her fabulous homecooked gourmet meals and sparkling banter.
Helen worked tirelessly in her husband's resort businesses, taking on every job from housekeeper, bookkeeper, storekeeper, waitress, bartender, administrator, and interior designer. She performed all admirably and was instrumental in their success. However, Helen's most important role of all – and the one where she excelled - was mother and grandmother. Family, above all else, was the reason for her existence. She was never as happy as when the whole clan was gathered under her roof, which she did as often as she could.
Helen made the world a better place with her kind heart and lively spirit, and she will be dearly missed.
