Date of Passing: Dec 30, 2022
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMildred Louisa Kinsley (nee Leifso) of Boissevain, Manitoba passed away on December 30, 2022 at the age of 96.
Mildred was born on July 3, 1926 to Edward and Louisa Leifso in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. She was the middle child of nine; a younger sister to Elmer (Helen), Robert, Florence (Gordon Montgomery) and Hilda (George Wells) and older sister to Rita (Lyle Klindt), Gladys (Willie De Yaegher), Edward (Vera) and Kenneth. She was predeceased by all her siblings and all of her sister and brother in-laws.
Mildred’s younger years were spent on farms in Saskatchewan. There she became the hard worker she was her entire life. She worked outside chores as well as household chores of baking, cleaning, painting and anything needing done.
Mildred’s family moved to Minto, Manitoba in 1943 where she met and married Charles Ashley Kinsley on November 15, 1944. They farmed many years and Mildred again worked outside with grain, milk cows, beef cattle, chicken, pigs and a large garden all while maintaining a very tidy house full of great cooking and baking. Their four children Bonnie, Sharon, Rick and Murray were well cared for on their farm.
She was gracious and kind, but feisty and stubborn. She was so appreciative of any kind words and gestures. She loved phone calls and visits. She was helpful and supportive.
Mildred loved crafts of any kind with quilting being number one. Sewing, ceramics, embroidery work, knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch to name a few. We all have many treasured pieces of her work.
Mildred was a true hard worker who never seemed to find work…work!! Painting, papering and cleaning was done for many people who were unable or unwilling to take on the task. Even in her last residence the Westview Lodge Care Home she recently said “I can’t just sit here and do nothing”. We are sure she is still making her ever-famous buns!
Mom is lovingly remembered by her children, Bonnie (Nick), Sharon, Rick (Gwen) and Murray (Donna); grandchildren, Pam, Marc, Ashley, Missy, Scott, Mark, Jolene, Chad, Sheri, Shelby and Mike; 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Charlie in 2001; infant son Larry and son-in-law Gordon in 2011.
Funeral service was held January 4, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Minto United Church in Minto, Manitoba with Rev. Christopher Davis officiating. Interment at Minto Cemetery. Pallbearers were Missy Campbell, Scott Patterson, Sheri Gibson, Mike Kinsley, Chad Kinsley and Ashley Thompson.
