CATHERINE LINDA TOCHER
(nee MEYER)
July 26, 1937 - January 20, 2023
It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Catherine, lovingly known as Katie, at the age of 85. Mom will be sadly missed by her children Edward (Judy), David, and Joanne (Udo), special daughters Laurie and Dawn. Grandchildren Matthew (Rebecca), Nathan, Jordan (Britni), Brett, Ashley (Tony), Julie, Scott (Brittani). Great-grandchildren Peyton, Blake, Catherine, Miller. Sisters Theresa, Gloria (John), Joyce (Frank), Ollie, brother Eddie (Beverley), brother-in-law Stan, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Glen, her parents, sister Mary, brother-in-law Clarence.
Catherine was born to Peter and Kate Meyer, the third of seven children, on the farm outside of Meleb, Manitoba. She went on to marry Glen, continue farming, then moving to Winnipeg after all her children were born. There was always an open door for her family to stay. She worked hard on her days off from Silverwood Dairy and Cresent Creamery making fresh bread, cinnamon buns, pies, and cookies. With so little, she always managed to put supper on the table every night. We were so fortunate to have a beautiful, kind, and caring home maker. So thankful for her dedication to us. In her leisure time, she gardened, walked, biked, cross country skied, and golfed.
Respecting Mom's wishes there will be no funeral service. The family would like to thank the responding crew from Fire Station 8 for their kind and professional care of Mom during her last moments. Thanks to Deer Lodge, Maples, and River East care homes, who treated our Mother with love and dignity. In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, please consider a donation to The Winnipeg Humane Society.
HOW DO YOU SAY GOODBYE? Mom, Granny, we will always love and remember you! How truly blessed we were to have loved and been loved by you!
REST WELL MOM. Until we meet again.

We will remember Katie with fondness. Whenever she saw us there was always a big smile and friendly wave. A little piece of the character on our cove was gone when the Tocher’s moved away. Our condolences to all the family. - Posted by: Judi and Les Parry (Former neighbours) on: Jan 28, 2023
