KENNETH FREDERICK MCPHAIL
November 10, 1945 - January 15, 2023

Ken (Kenny) McPhail, 77, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on January 15, 2023.
He was predeceased by his brother Angus; nephew Walter; father Fred and mother Donalda. He is survived by his wife Vivian; his son Kevin; his sisters, Carol and Kathy, and several nieces and nephews.
Ken would consider Transcona home for almost his entire life where he worked as a custodian for the Transcona Springfield School Division/River East Transcona School Division for 36 years. He retired in 2012.
His main pastime would be to go fishing and camping around Manitoba and NW Ontario. Unfortunately, his health prevented him from this enjoyment later in his retirement.
Ken was a man who could be a little ornery or stubborn about some things in his later years, but he would still be there to give a lift or show one how to repair things.
As per Ken's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
The McPhail family would like to extend our appreciation to the staff of Riverview Health Centre for their kindness and attentiveness. Our thanks are also given to CancerCare Manitoba (Dr. Zhang and Dr. Ong). Our sincerest gratitude goes to the home care staff - especially Alex, Tracy, Joe and Jerome who provided Ken's care and treatment while at home.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, to the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, or to the Manitoba Wildlife Federation.

  • Sorry to hear of Kens passing! - Posted by: Doug McPhail (Cousin) on: Jan 28, 2023

  • I was sad to hear that Ken had passed away. My condolences to the McPhail family. I first met Ken at Westview School. He was a quiet, reserved man. He eventually became part of our early morning coffee clutch where we shared stories and had many laughs. It was a pleasure to get to know him. I looked forward to starting every work day with this special group of people. Whenever I think of Ken and Westview School it will remind me of these happy times. A hug for you Ken, my friend.
