With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Blair Evans, beloved husband, father and grandfather in his 63rd year. Blair passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Brandon Regional Health Centre with family by his side on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Blair was born in Virden to Stewart and Jessie Evans, the youngest of four children. He attended school in Virden and graduated in June 1978. The day after his graduation, Blair began his career at Leech Printing, where he had been employed for over 43 years. He also worked at the local Walmart for 19 years until he retired in 2021 due to his health.
Blair will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Heather; daughters Kayla and Kelsey (Matt); son Andrew (Cassandra); and his much-loved grandchildren Macy, Max, Natalie and Damian.
Also left to mourn are his sister Joyce and brother Wayne (Colleen), sisters-in-law Debbie (Morris) and Brenda (Fred), along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Blair was predeceased by his parents Stewart and Jessie Evans, sister Shirley Potter and father and mother-in-law Ted and Violet Bowman.
Blair had three passions besides his family. He was a season ticket holder for over 35 years with The Brandon Wheat Kings. In the summer, you could find him at the Deer Ridge golf course playing a round of golf with his Thursday night crew. The last was travelling to Mexico, where Blair and Heather came to love the Town of Huatulco and the many friends they met. Unfortunately, they were unable to travel after 2020 due to COVID and then Blair’s health, but Heather will always cherish the memories they made on their annual vacation during the 10 years that they were able to travel.
The family will cherish Blair’s memory privately.
The family would like to thank Dr. Connelly, Dr. Anderson and Dr. Czaykowski, as well as the many doctors and nurses at BRHC and the Assiniboine Center for their care and compassion during Blair’s battle with cancer.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Blair may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg MB, R3E 0V9.

Please accept my sincere sympathy in the passing of Blair. I was his grade 2 and grade 3 teacher at Mary Montgomery School in Virden. I remember Blair as a quiet, yet studious young boy. Blair was tall for his age in grades 2 and 3, His class picture is in full view in the photo cabinet in the "new" Mary Montgomery School. - Posted by: Gonna (Russell) George (Former teacher) on: Jan 28, 2023
