DAVID COBAIN
November 17, 1931 - January 29, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of David Cobain at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 91 years.
Predeceased by his son Colin David, he leaves to mourn his wife Norma, daughter Marion (Leo), grandson Justin, and many relatives in Canada and Northern Ireland.
David was born November 17, 1931 in Belfast, N. Ireland, and was the youngest of 10 children. He told many stories of growing up in Ireland during the '30s and '40s, where he started work at 14 doing hard physical labour in the flax mill and carrying bricks. He met the love of his life, Norma Trew, in 1950, and they enjoyed 67 happy years of marriage.
In 1963 the family immigrated to Canada, David became a painter and worked on many building projects throughout Winnipeg and Northern Manitoba, he had a steady and deft hand, loved his work, and took pride in a job well done. David always put his family first, worked hard, and was still climbing ladders and painting well into his late 70s. He was forever grateful for the new life and opportunities afforded him in Canada.
David had the gift of the gab and was always ready with a one-liner, joke, or story, he could talk to anyone, anywhere, and talk he did. He put this talent to good use by joining Toastmasters, where he won many awards, he was well-read and loved nothing better than a good debate or discussion. He was also a man of great faith. He enjoyed a well-deserved and happy retirement, retaining his independence and remaining in his own home right to the end, just as he wanted.
A private family service will be held with interment at Glen Eden Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to the charity of your choice.
