DEBRA IRENE (DEBBIE) BRITTON
(nee LAVINEWAY)

November 24, 1956 - February 3, 2023


After a courageous battle with Cancer, Debbie Britton passed away peacefully, with her soulmate Russell, and all of her loving family by her side at her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Debbie was 66 years young when she passed.
Debbie was born in Erickson MB on November 24, 1956. Her family later moved to Headingley, MB in 1959, where she lived and raised her family.
Russell Britton and Debbie became a family in 1989, were married August 10, 2002 and lived a wonderful life for more than 33 years!
Debbie leaves to mourn, her husband Russell and their three children, Bob (Christina), Kris (Allie) and Ashley (Shaun), as well, her five grandchildren, Marisa (Bob), Joshua, Kara, Sylas, Ada, (Kris); her brothers and sisters, Murray (Dawn predeceased), Donna (Steve), Dwight (Sharon), Dennis, predeceased (Lori), Kim (Ian predeceased), Shannon (Darren). She is survived by her very "Special" Aunt Thelma Hince (nee Robinson) and her "Special "school chum and lifelong friend Tanis Nott, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and her many friends.
Debbie was predeceased by her father Bob Lavineway and her mother Jean Lavineway (nee Robinson).
Debbie was a beautiful and caring mother and wife, whom expressed her undying love always, which was evident to everyone who knew her, these same feelings extended to her family and friends.
Debbie attended school in the St. James Assiniboia School Division, Phoenix Elementary, Hedges Junior High, and Sturgeon Creek Collegiate.
Debbie was employed with the Province of Manitoba, the Headingley Correctional Institute and Manitoba Driver Licensing, and several Public Service facilities in her earlier working career.
Special thanks to Debbie's medical team Dr. Rumbolt, Dr. McKay, Dr. Krahn, Dr. Perch and their medical staff.
Russell and family would also like to recognize Shannon for being such a strong advocate for Debbie over the past year. As well, Donna, Kim, Sharon, Jayne, Orville and so many other family members for their assistance in providing loving care for Debbie!
In lieu of flowers, Debbie requested that contributions be made in her name to CancerCare Manitoba.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Debbie on February 18, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Headingley Recreation Centre located in Headingley, Manitoba.

  • I worked with "Murphy" at Motor Vehicle Branch years ago. She was so much fun and had an excellent sense of humor and contagious laugh.
