DWIGHT (JOHN) SMITH
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dwight (John) Smith.
He leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 50 years, Annette Smith (nee Barnabé), his wonderful children, Patrick, Michelle, Jean Pierre and Nicole. His beautiful grandchildren, Drake, Logan, Evan and Avery, his siblings and in-laws and their families. He was loved by so many and will be forever missed by many more.
Born and raised in Carman, MB, one of five children from John and Ruby Smith. He began his career farming in Carman and later left his beloved small town to finish his career working for Superior Technologies. At Superior he made so many friends, and they loved spending time together golfing and playing cards. Among other things Dwight loved to do was fishing, playing sports, watching sports, hunting, reading, travelling and enjoying the finer things in life.
Dwight was such a kind hearted, loving, gentle giant, always putting others before himself. He volunteered many hours with the local community centre, Christmas Cheer Board and countless hours at the arena either coaching or being his kids' number one fan. His greatest legacy will be his ability to love and to show love. Dancing in the kitchen with his wife, always holding hands and even singing to her. His children also felt this love and are forever grateful to have been blessed with such a great Dad.
A huge thank you to the staff at Riverview Health Centre.
In keeping with Dwight's wishes, we will not be having a funeral but a Celebration of Life, Sunday, February 19 at Winakwa Community Club, 980 Winakwa Rd., from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Sadden to hear of Dwight's passing. Having known Dwight during our time at Superior Scale was a pleasure and my honour knowing such a fine man. Also being part of the terrible three golf amigos where good times and laughs abound. There was always a brightness to his eyes whenever family and loves were discussed. Meeting Annette made that all clear. Sincerest deepest condolences to Anette and family . Godspeed , Dwight , Godspeed. - Posted by: DALE KOZUN (Friend) on: Mar 24, 2023

So sorry to hear of Dwight's passing. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. A hard working man who always had a kind word for everyone. He liked his leisure time but loved his family. We will miss him. - Posted by: Barry and Darlene Pruden (Friend) on: Feb 23, 2023

My Dear Friend Annette, so very sorry to hear of the passing, the love of your life! Yes I remember Dwight being a very gentle giant indeed. Dwight always spoke well of others. Am sure he will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. Mostly by Annette and his children, but remember, this is not good-bye, but, see you later Dwight!
