MARJORIE JANET BRIGGS
(nee THOMSON)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marjorie Janet Briggs. She passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023, with her children by her side.
Left to cherish her memory are their daughters, Kathy (Bruce Belton) and Terri (John Czegledi), grandchildren, Darryl (Anna), Adam (Jaclyn), Brandi, Michael (Kristi), Kyle (Elena), Lana (Curtis) and 14 great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was born on February 12, 1935 in Plumas, MB the seventh child of a family of nine. Marjorie's childhood in this close knit rural community made a lifelong impression. Eager to begin her own adventure she set out in her young adult life beginning in Winnipeg then making her way to Atikokan, Sudbury and then enlisted in the women's air corps in Ottawa (Rockcliffe). This is where she met the love of her life Bob Briggs. After a short courtship they married and were transferred overseas to Merville, France. Three years later they were posted back to Canada to Moose Jaw, SK. They had several moves in the Canadian Armed Forces finally settling in Winnipeg.
Upon retirement they spent many summers camping and travelling in their motorhome from coast to coast. Marjorie's pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Briggs, parents, Katie (Bilow) and George Thomson, siblings, Leonard (Marie), Clayton (Helen), Gerald (Millie), Red (Mary), Mary (Marcel) and Gordon (Elsie).
The family would like to thank the amazing team of health care workers at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg who gave Marjorie such wonderful care in her final days. We also deeply appreciate the kindness and support that Mom received while living at Kiwanis Courts in St James.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Marjorie's name may be made to the charity of your choice.

Auntie Marj & uncle Bob...always a fun loving team. They will be happy in heaven together. My memory of Auntie was of many card games & family gatherings especially at Grandma's house. I remember having a few beer at an uncle's house..back in the 70's; long hair was common among the young but frowned on by the older generations. Auntie pulled a fast one...cutting a large chunk out of my shoulder length hair. I was forced to trim it a bit. No hard feelings Auntie! - Posted by: Rick Geurts (Nephew) on: Mar 21, 2023

Marj and Bob were next door neighbours to my parents, Snooker and Lorna Marsh. There are a lot of good memories arising from those days. Please accept our condolences. - Posted by: Mel and Joy Marsh (Aquaintance) on: Feb 24, 2023
