ROBERT (BOB) LLOYD WILLIAMS
August 26, 1952 - February 11, 2023

With profound sadness the family of Bob Williams, 70, announces his passing.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Judy; children Rob, Karen (Steve) and Kerry (Roman); grandchildren Ethan, Emily, William and Joshua; and siblings Darlene (John), Doug and Perry. He was predeceased by many loved ones.
Bob was a West End legend who raised his family in the neighbourhood, instilling in them a sense of pride about committing to their community and what it takes to be a good person. His upbringing was challenging, but wanted his children to have a better life, and he succeeded. Judy (née Routh) steered him in the proper direction. He found joy and satisfaction in volunteerism as a Cub Scout leader, a hockey coach and manager and in many activities at Orioles Community Centre.
Bob and Judy's house on Lipton Street was the epicentre of chaos and activity while the children were growing up, with a constant stream of friends coming and going. He even ran his own Blockbuster out of the family living room and would lend out movies (for free), making sure everyone wrote their name in a binder and brought them back. The comments online can attest to what an impact the Williams household had. Everyone was welcome. Everyone has a memory about Bob. He was full of personality and tattoos, and sported a moustache he would never shave.
Bob had a quick wit and a sharp memory. He had some hearing loss, which meant things didn't always register properly, providing a bit of amusement for the kids and a source of frustration for Judy. He enjoyed games, puzzles, crosswords, chess, movies, music, western novels and spending time with his grandchildren (he loved his grandchildren more than anything). In his younger days he liked camping, family road trips to places such as the Rocky Mountains and Valley Fair (he was a thrill seeker), renting cabins and a cold Labatt Blue. C.O.P.D. slowed him down later in life, but he remained a collector of comics, hockey cards, pins and coins.
Bob and Judy had a love like no other. They started dating when they were 15 years old and celebrated their 50th wedding celebration in January. Bob's last wish was to make it to Judy's 70th birthday in February.
According to Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral. The family has held a private celebration of his life. For those who wish to sign the online guest book, please go to alternacremation.ca. We would like to thank everyone for their love and support.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My deepest condolences to Judy, your children and grandchildren, other family and friends. I remember Bob and Judy as dear friends. Bob and his family lived on the next street to me. I went to Sargent Park school with his older brother Stanley. Judy’s Mom and mine (Eileen) shared duties in the Canteen, at the Orioles C.C. Saturday dances which we all attended. I remember how Bob loved Judy unconditionally from their first dating at young ages. I also remember Judy taking me to see a concert with an artist I didn’t know previously. It was Roy Orbison and of course the concert was memorable. Thanks again Judy, be well! In a twist of fate I am now with Lynn who was a Refreshments server at that concert. - Posted by: Gary Card (Friend ) on: Apr 01, 2023

  • I am shocked and heartbroken to hear of Bob's passing. I have many great memories of our glory days in the West End. One of those I cherish is at the Orioles community club. Bob coached our senior fast ball team, we were city champs that year in 1970. I would like to add that Bob & Judy's love was a shining example of what true love should be. We all share your grief. Respectfully, Bob & Tracy Poitras P.O. Box 105 Woodridge, MB. R0A-2N0 - Posted by: Bob & Tracy Poitras (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2023

  • We are so sorry for Bob's passing; and happy to have known him. Kerry, Rob and Karen we are thinking of you. Judy, we're sending lots of love and the invitation to come over to our house for a visit anytime is always open. Bob was one of a kind, a good man, and will be missed by many. - Posted by: Erin and Steve (Friends ) on: Feb 18, 2023

  • Mrs .Williams, Rob, Karen and Kerry, I am so sorry for your loss and hope in this difficult time you can remember all the great memories you had with such a great man. Your home was a sanctuary to so many of us, it was like Cheers before Cheers existed. As I reminisce of all our wild and crazy times in high-school and early 20's it's impossible not to have your dad as part of that memory. Every event either started at the Williams home or ended there, many times both. Most weekend nights of fun I couldn't wait to get to my second home, claim my spot on the couch and watch a movie from "Bob's Store". Your family was and has been such an important part of my life and I thank you for that. You all are in my thoughts. • Coached with Bob back in the day at Principal Sparling outdoor rink when our kids were small probably 40 plus years ago. He will be missed. - Posted by: Brian Brown (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2023
