JAMES LEE SANTOS

On Monday, February 13, 2023, James Lee Santos, loving husband and father, passed away at Surrey Memorial Hospital, BC at the age of 47 after a battle with stage four esophageal cancer.
James was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 10, 1975. James was a humble, kind, gentle giant that was devoted to his wife and children. He loved music, photography, exploring and spending time outdoors with his family.
James was preceded in death by his father Ben, his mother Luz. He is survived by his wife Melissa, his children, Jayden (11 years) and Ronin (7 years); his brothers, Jay (Erin) and Joel, and nieces, Danica and Alexis. He will also be missed by his large extended Filipino family.
All services will be held in BC. The wake will be held on Friday, February 24. The Funeral Mass and interment will be held on Saturday, February 25.
The family would like to especially thank Melissa, for going above and beyond all her love, to support and ensure James always had the best care, and always had someone by his side during these last few months. She is his true angel and love of his life.
James made a huge positive impact on so many people. His journey may have ended early, but his loving memory will forever carry on.

  • I got to know James through his brother Jay, who I grew up with back in the Glenwood School days. James always was like another big brother to me, since I spent a lot of time at their house over the years. He quickly involved me in the typical brother ‘antics’ that’s always took place there and I can still hear the laughter we all had from the games he made up or the songs he made up while playing bass guitar and even when playing basketball at the school and countless other moments. Even after James moved out west, the times I’d get to visit him just like as we were kids, he’d greet me with “Hey Desi” and it was like we were back in his parents basement again. Making jokes and reminiscing about old times. For many he was DJ Grasshopper, for me he is and will always be remembered as just, “Jamesy”. My deepest condolences and sympathies to Melissa, Jayden and Ronin. Jay and Joel, Mr and Mrs Santos and their family. - Posted by: Desmond Clarke (Family friend) on: Mar 05, 2023
