SALLY FERNANDEZ
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our beloved Sally Fernandez, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at St. Boniface General Hospital IMCU, at the age of 79.
Sally Fernandez "Mama" is survived by her daughter, Bles (Daniel) Balverde; three grandchildren, Kristopher Espineli, April and Aariel Balverde; her sisters, Emy (Alex) Depita, Eva Amorin and Maribel Lanuza; many loving great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends in Winnipeg, Philippines and abroad.
She was predeceased by her parents, Amparo Amorin and Antonio Fernandez; her siblings: her brothers, Jun Amorin, and Reynaldo Amorin; sisters, Teresita Alinton and Elizabeth Amorin.
She immigrated to Winnipeg in 1980, recruited to work in the garment industry. She later switched to health care and work as a health care aide for many years at St. Norbert Nursing Home, Central Park Lodge, Charleswood Long Term Care Home, Luther Home and Home Care for many years and worked through her senior year up to present as health companion. Sally is very vibrant and lived independently. The simple things in life made her smile - she loved going to casino, going for walks at Garden City Mall and explore the food section in Seafood City. At home she keeps herself busy watching the Filipino Channel, chatting on the phone, doing puzzles, collecting flyers and coupons. She is also a member of Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Couples for Christ / Handmaids of The Lord at St. Peter Parish. She attends Sunday mass and serves as a volunteer once or twice a month. Sally was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandma, auntie and friend to all. She'll be greatly missed but forever remembered and loved.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital, Emergency and IMCU department for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Sally and family.

We were shocked to hear of Sally's passing and send our sincere condolences to her family. My mother and I were good friends with Sally for many years as she lived in our condo. We used to help her all of the time and we knew she was deeply religous. Rest in Peace Sally for you are now in Heaven and God Bless. - Posted by: Florence Hrynchuk & Michael Kulczycki (Friends and neighbors) on: Mar 01, 2023
