HANNAH MARIE THOMPSON
(nee PICHA)

April 20, 1937 - February 19, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hannah Thompson on February 19, 2023, at the age of 85.
Hannah was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Marie and her brothers, Joe, George, and Jerry.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Wayne, of 66 years of marriage; daughter Valerie; son-in-law Garth and her beloved grandchildren, Tom, Tanya, and Todd. Hannah is also survived by her brothers, Paul and John, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Hannah was born in Carrick, MB on the family homestead on April 20, 1937. During her childhood, her family moved around to various communities in Manitoba and British Columbia, eventually returning to the community of Piney, MB around 1952. There she met her future husband and the love of her life Wayne, and their 66-year adventure began. Hannah and Wayne lived in B.C. for a couple of years where their daughter was born before moving back to Manitoba. Hannah worked for around 20 years at the Bank of Montreal starting at Main Branch at the corner of Portage and Main. After many years of living in Winnipeg, Hannah and Wayne retired to Aspen Park in Gimli where they played golf and enjoyed time with family and friends. They eventually moved back to Winnipeg.
Hannah loved to travel and especially loved a driving holiday with Wayne to many of the southern states. They would pack up the car with lunch and suitcases and take off to wherever the roads took them. Over the years she enjoyed many holidays with family members including trips to Disney as well as cruises. She was always happiest when she was on her trips.
The family would like to thank the amazing and caring team from the Grace Hospital Emergency Department for their compassionate care of Hannah.
As per Hannah's wishes, no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am sorry I found out about her passing so late. I grew up next door to Hannah and Wayne. I will always remember her as a big hearted person who was always (even though not blood related) my Auntie Hannah. Xmas eves were my favourite memories along with summer bar-b-qs. My condolences to Wayne, Toodie and family. She was a great lady and have nothing but the best memories of her - Posted by: Ian Ferguson (Neighbor) on: Aug 18, 2023
