EDWINA THOMAS
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on February 21, 2023 at the age of 88 years.
The family would like to thank the amazing team of palliative care workers at Riverview Health Centre who provided exceptional care and compassion to Mom. A heartfelt thanks to Kija and Gaetane for the care and kindness they showed to Mom in her final months.
According to Mom's wishes, no service will be held, and a private family gathering will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Harvest Manitoba, a charity at which Mom worked many hours. She believed that no person should go hungry in this wonderful country.
We love you Mom
forever.

My deepest condolences to Janice, Mike and the rest of the family. Both Edwina and Ken were a big part of my life as a child, as they were my god parents. Edwina will alway have a special place in my heart. I will always remember her as a very kind, loving, genuine person whom I adored and looked up to. I always looked forward to every summer going to Grand Beach with my parents because I knew we would be spending time with Edwina and Ken. The Grabowski’s spent many Christmas celebrations together and horseshoe tournaments at Grand Marais. Those were the good old days. May you rest peace dear godmother. Love you always, Kerri (Kiki) Grabowski - Posted by: Kerri (Kiki) Grabowski (God Daughter) on: Mar 05, 2023

Please accept mine and my family's condolences for the loss of Edwina. She was a wonderful and gracious lady. I had the pleasure of enjoying Edwinas and Kens company on may occasion. An often over said comment certainly applies here. The world is indeed a much poorer place. God bless and best wishes you all. Garry - Posted by: Garry McLaughlin (Friend) on: Feb 26, 2023

I just wanted to say to Jan & the Thomas family how sorry I am to hear of your Mom's passing. I will never forget the times I used to spend at your house Jan. Your Mom always chuckling to herself over the silly things we would do or say as teenagers growing up. I remember fondly opening up your cabin after the winter for the first time & your Mom having to listen to us in the middle of the night! She’d just shake her head & giggle to herself. God gave your family a precious gift & you called her “Mom”. I will always remember her smile & gentle way. God bless you Mrs. Thomas. - Posted by: Kelly Jamieson Ne McDonald (Friend) on: Feb 26, 2023

Summers at Grand Beach with my cousins was a special family time in my life, and my Aunt Edwina was a calm, comforting, and loving aunt who always had time for me. I have always admired how she could find time to sit back and read a book, and we swapped many titles over the years. Like my Mom, she would enjoy her time at the cabin long after the family had grown. She gave me the gift of introduction to Charlene and I always thanked her for that. She was one of the two Auntie stops on the way to Char’s place, as Auntie Donna was also on the way. I will miss you, Auntie Ed, and cherish my memories of family times with you. Hugs and condolences to the Thomas family. Love and miss you all! Lori - Posted by: Lori Phillips ( Niece) on: Feb 25, 2023

My heartfelt sympathies to you all in the loss of your beautiful mom. Mrs. Thomas was a special lady we loved and respected. Growing up we spent many days/hours hanging out at the Thomas’ home and at times their cottage. Looking back, she had so much patience with all of the Thomas/Smith around. Many fond memories.
